Deathwobble fixed and back again, help!

NAPA's truck shocks are excellent for a stocker.

    New guy...should I buy a m1009/8?

    1. Only the ignition system is 24v or affected by it. Everything else is standard 1984 era GM 12v. However the starter, alts, and associated parts are NOT commonly stocked NAPA, AutoZone, AdvancedAuto, etc parts. 2. No. 3. Assuming good condition glow plugs, gp relay, starter, and batteries...

Cool. That was my one concern.

    Lights

Just watch those lights up there on the roof bar. My cousin had six Daylighters up on a rollbar on his '98 Chevy K1500 and thought they were sooo cool. Sure turned night into day. Then he destroyed 4 or 5 of them whacking them on a low hanging branch.:-? I'd like to put some lights either on...

    Just bought my first m1008

x2 You can put taller tires on it now but to really gain more speed you have to go fairly large. Still, some narrow 33's would help it a bit.

M-1008 1,100 miles in two days...

I've heard installing the hood insulation like the civy trucks got helps cut down on the interior engine noise. I'm going to do this next spring or summer when I have Big Ugly back. My civy K5 sure has a lot less directly heard engine noise.

    38x14.5x16

I believe kert over at DIY4x makes degreed blocks similar to zero rates. He's a vendor over on CK5 so you get the discount.

    35x12.5 R15 / 36x12.5 R16.5

What's the height difference between the two? When I had the 36" HMMWV bias plies I noticed they were about 34.5" tall on the truck.

    38x14.5x16

Looks good. Lots of good work there. Did you have to hammer back your wheel well liners? I did and I didn't trim as much in the rear as you did.

M1028 or 1008 for an expedition car??

Guys, this thread has been dead since February.

Well, that means someone other than my two dogs and my nephew think I'm speshul.:-D

    38x14.5x16

I've got 1" of lift up front, stock rear suspension, cut fenders, and narrow 38's and I'd have to say 50% of the folks who walk up to Big Ugly think it's lifted at least 4".

Advice on HMMWV tires on these things with stockish wheels

Definitely. Worth doing the steering box brace that ORD sells as well.

Advice on HMMWV tires on these things with stockish wheels

K5 Crossover Steering System Basically converts the craptastic stock "push pull" steering to a side to side steering setup.

    Mpg/tire size

http://www.cardomain.com/id/AJMBLAZER I've kind of given up on CarDomain there though. The pics are decently current though. Yes, I cut to fit narrow 38's. Mine was pretty rust free as well. I did it so I ended up with what I have, a 1 ton pickup on 38's that can go 75 and isn't super high...

    mpg thread

Bad math, wishful thinking, and a bit of hope? Not saying anyone's a liar or anything like that but I'm dubious of any claims over 15mpg or so on a 1008. Stock they're over geared like mad so you're spinning the wee out of the engine but even with big tires like mine you're in a 6000lb truck...

    mpg thread

M1008 stock everything except for Cherry Bombs instead of factory mufflers and 34" tall "36x12.5x16.5" HMMWV RT/II tires = about 15mpg Same truck, but with 38" tall 11.00R16 Michelin Radials, 1" front lift, and a cold air intake setup gets about 13mpg or so. I'd wager a bit more but I need to...

    Got my lift in today

Looks good man. That makes total sense. Hell, mine got far more driveable when I put the 38's on. Finally seemed like I was actually using the torque curve and not just blowing right through it and then just spinning the motor. 16.5's?
  20. AJMBLAZER

    Mpg/tire size

235/85R16 was stock. I've got 11.00R16 (38x11ishR16) on mine and it still drives nice. Actually will do 75 even! Mileage is in the 13mpg or so range.
