Ya, but $400 is a lot for a steering column. I will probably just go get another one from the junk yard. As for this one, it was my first time. It wasn't that bad and I think I will tear it all down and play around with it during my spare time. I know everything has a "trick" and once you figure...
I hear you Kipman, just worried about no help around. I am THINKING about pulling the injectors off of Knocky and putting them in PITA while I rebuild them. I hate to do that, but PITA is my DD and that's the only way I can think of. I'm just worried about messing them up or getting a spec of...
Ya, the power steering is a BEAST to get tight and crank down by yourself. I have done one by myself and I am not excited about changing all my belts next week.
I am having problems with mine too. She used to work just fine. Earlier this year, when I rebuilt my dash cluster, I cleaned all the contacts (in the entire dash) and everything worked fine. Now that I am driving her everyday and sometimes on long trips (3 hours) it is all over the map. I don't...
Ah, thanks! Ya, I wrote it down on my card, but forgot to write down that is where you got them from. Sorry, my fault. I have never been known for my outstanding note taking ability, LOL!
Had the same problem. Whoever installed the last power steering unit did a crappy job! A bunch of the nuts were loose and I was missing a nut that tied in to the bracket as well.
Was there enough clearance? What all did you need to buy to get them to mount under the dash?
I have my radio and everything, just need speakers, wire, and whatever else for the dash.
So today I decided to replace my turn signal cam on my steering column. BIG MISTAKE! LOL!
I started the late morning at NAPA getting a bunch of parts for the next few repairs I have to do on the 1009. I headed home and started to dive into the steering column first. I was taking pictures for a...
Thanks, I saw those earlier and wanted to make sure I was looking at the right one. I switched out columns today to a better one (no goo all in it) but my right front turn signal won't flash unless I bump the turn signal down a little bit. I figured it was the cam because it feels kind of loose...
Ok Joe-
I just read through 12 pages of your "fun having". I am ready to hear "the rest of the story" (as Paul Harvey would say), LOL! Seriously, did you trace it to the ignition? Did you figure out why your brake pedal was killing it?
Just wanted to know because I'm nosy! :grd:
Has the truck been running well since? I am experiencing a little power loss and wondered about my injectors. It looked like yours were pretty fouled up.
Hoe much of a pain was it to replace the whole thing? Where did you buy the part from and how much was it? I am about to tackle this this weekend (if I can find the parts).
Thanks!
I believe this would be the correct rebuild kit, correct?

Is the lockup switch a toggle switch you hit at highway speeds to lock the converter? If that's the case, when you reduce speeds off the highway (exit ramps), do you have to flip it again to unlock it?
Thanks!
