    M35a2 block heater

That's what I was thinking to, but Westfolk has a video of his truck starting in some pretty cold weather with his heater installed in the lower plug of the water pump. That was impressive. I understood that the thermostat on these trucks did not completely seal off to prevent any flow, just...

    M35a2 block heater

Just installed my Kats 1500 watt heater this afternoon. It's not the freeze plug type, but the recirculating kind. Wasn't that difficult, and only lost about a half gallon of coolant. But I did get to replace the heater hoses that were in pretty bad shape anyway. We plugged her in for a few...

Deuce hiding out in the woods

I tried for several years to buy a '53 Studebaker PU from an old farmer near me. Every time I would ask him, he would say he was going to cut it up and make a trailer out of it. One day, I stopped by to check on him, and ended up staying for a couple of hours helping him build fires in his...

    Fuel for M35A3

Amen Brother Wreckerman! We have 3 firetrucks with the Cats and Allison Automatics. Needless to say, our mechanic on staff just shakes his head and schedules a trip to the dealer when something goes awry with them. Spent $800+ on a lift pump last fall on one. That's tough on a volunteer fire...

She won't start in the cold!

If your fuel is OK (additives added) then battery power (i.e. cranking speed) is most likely what you need. Warm batteries, or boosting with a fresh, warmed battery should do it. Last week I tried to start my Deuce in 25 degrees one afternoon. Started off spinning good, then the cold oil just...

    cost of a tn title

I did mine back in September (title, register, and license). Think all total it was about $180, but I did the personal truck license at 18k GVWR, so we can still use it when we want to. As Ty said, the title fee is minimal, and the antique tag is $27.75 once, and forever. Here's a snippet...

Pickin Up new M1009 on Christmas Eve Day

I thought the power of attorney stuff is done with auto dealers a lot. Especially with new car purchases. All the paperwork you sign, one or two has power of attorney for things like car tags, etc. It just give the dealership the ability to do a specific legal action on your part. It's been...

    Working the Deuce...

My brother in law works for a railroad company. He got his work truck (one that has the rail wheels that lower to the tracks) stuck this past weekend. We used the Deuce to pull him out. Not quite pulling a rail car, but .... his truck does ride the rails.....:-D

More jobs for the Deuce/The last Roundup

Thank You! Just looking out for my children's future... This farm has been in the family since before the civil war, and I will not sit idly by and let some greedy corporation/developer ruin it. Am I sorry someone is not making millions from a hole in the ground. Not in the least bit.:-D

More jobs for the Deuce/The last Roundup

Development in rural areas is gonna happen. No way around it. But as citizens in these areas, we should help and encourage our leaders to make those decisions that are in the best interest for the masses. Several years ago, our community came together to persuade one of the landowners that a...

    HELP!! Got my Deuce stuck!

We used to do this when our 4x4 tractors would hit those wet springs in the fields, but we used the drag from behind the disc. Worked really well. Should work with a deuce also.

Now that's what it's all about. Helping those in need!!! We got enough snow to make a snowball, if you scraped it off the hood of your car.

    changing primary fuel filter

The primary filter is on the inside of the frame rail, passenger side of the motor, directly underneath the alternator. If you don't have time to change it, drain the crud out of it first through the drain valve, see if that helps. Try all the above suggestions, from least expensive/least...

    A quiet deuce?

Cool! Optical illusion can have a way of not being very illuminating. It just looked small in comparison to the tires, etc. If it makes the ride more pleasurable, then I'm all for it!!! :-D

    A quiet deuce?

I always thought you needed to keep the exhaust pipes the same diameter as the exit from the manifold (or pretty close) to prevent too much backpressure. But I don't know if backpressure is an issue on the multifuel (I guess you still have one) and/or turbo on these beasts. But if it works...

    Cold weather starting

Several years ago, we put these on two fire trucks that have Cat engines. Even though they don't get much below 55 degrees in the stations, they need/have to run just after start up. There's no time for warm-up, when the call comes in. Before we put these heaters on, they wouldn't half run...
