    Lucas oil additive

Let's see, .gov won't mandate it, and manufacturers say not to use it. (Now, let's put on our aluminum hats. ) I say it's a CONSPIRACY !! To prevent longer lasting, better running, more efficient vehicles, just to keep EPA happy, big oil selling more big oil, and car/truck...

is it safe to pull a M348A2 with a deuce?

Yep, that would be fun. Think of it as a 4-wheel wagon. Back in my younger years, I could back any 4-wheel wagon just about anywhere. But it was with a tractor that had power steering and steering brakes and plenty of room. Not much fun, but do-able. With a Deuce...I wouldn't even want to...

GL Employee Damages My M1009 & Insists I Pick It Up

I don't think a bent steering linkage is worth a long drawn out battle - but that's just me. I would take off a linkage from one of the trucks you already brought home and swap it out until you get this one home.

Another Family Member Likes the Deuce !!!

She will get her full driver's license in May. She has been asking me to teach her to drive my little Jeep - 5 spd YJ. It is modified quite a bit, and all her male friends thinks its really cool. She wants to drive the YJ to school some. I told her she could drive the Deuce and show them a...

Another Family Member Likes the Deuce !!!

Finally, my daughter actually rode in and drove the Deuce today!!!! She spent the afternoon at a friend's farm, and when it was time to pick her up, her friend (male - not going to call him boyfriend yet) begged her to let me come over in the big green truck. After making sure it was OK with...

    Stopped by the NCSHP

Not sure about NC, but in TN there are limits to what a vehicle licensed as an antique can haul. That is not much. They did change the law recently about when and where antique vehicles can be driven. This is why I tagged mine as a personal truck.

42-43 Michelin XLs on Deuce - Pics needed

Actually, only the diameter has to be the same, or very, very near. That's what you meant, right?

    Diesel leaking on turbo??

Gobs of RTV on the backside where the o-ring is bad will stop it also, but on a cool engine. Ask me how I know.

    M35a2 block heater

Not to :deadhorse:, but several pages back in this thread I mentioned that I wanted to take some temperature readings with my Kat's 1500 watt recirculating block heater installed. Well this morning I had the chance. Weather conditions at start of test: overcast, outside temperature 24...

Would you agree this is what flood damage looks like?

When I was growing up, and farming, all our trucks looked like that. Almost all the time.

The way I install a block heater

Good data right there! I hope to take some temp readings on mine when I get a chance (most likely next weekend). Maybe it will be cold enough for some good results.

    M35a2 block heater

I want to do this, but it will be next weekend before I'm home. Hopefully (or not, depending on your climate preference) it will be cooler than it is now. I was thinking of taking some pictures (or video :-) ) of the motor temps measured by the IR gun at different times (say every 30 minutes or...

Understanding the cooling system in relataion to block heaters (video)

Yes, it (cold water) goes from the back of the block toward the heater unit where the cold water is heated. Then the heated water, or heat, rises from the unit (which is mounted on the frame rail) to the heater hose connected from the lower outlet on the water pump. This is the outlet where...

Understanding the cooling system in relataion to block heaters (video)

So according to this video - my Kats recirculating heater shouldn't work. But it does. It heated the block, and the top of the radiator (forgot to feel the bottom of the radiator).

    Drum / filter bag setup?

I had about 16 gallon of WMO and started filtering it about two weeks ago. Didn't want to build an elaborate filter setup for this small amount. So I went to Wallyworld and picked up a 3-pack of high efficiency vacuum cleaner bags. Cut the bottom out of a 2-liter soda bottle, and cut the...

    M35a2 block heater

No pictures while it was being installed - too cold. I'll try to get some later this week. ;-)

    M35a2 block heater

I removed the drain valve from the back passenger's side of the engine block. Screwed the supplied fitting in. Ran 5/8 radiator hose down to the Kat's heater which is mounted down behind the primary fuel filter off the frame rail. From there, ran radiator hose up to a "T" connector into the...

    M35a2 block heater

Test this morning in 14 degree temps. Plugged her in at 7:00 and went back out at 10:00 to put my hands to the motor. The outside temp had risen to about 22 degrees. Lifted the hood, and started laying hands on the beast. The water pump was warm, the top of the radiator a little warmer, the...
