The measurements I got on mine were 31" center of shackle mount to center of shackle mount on the front bumper (center of shackle to center to shackle is the same). From the ground to the bed was 51 1/2"(it was not on a level surface). Hope it helps.
I reconnected the cut wire and put in 2 good batteries turned the key the dash lights came on waited for the glow plug light to turn off and she started right up. Still missing a few parts( 2 alternators, power steering pump bracket and crankshaft pully) but will be looking for these. Thanks...
I had nothing, but I think I may have found the problem. I had a wire that was cut, I originally thought it may have been from the plow set up, but after looking at the starting wiring diagram I noticed it was not from the plow setup. The wire that was cut came off the negative post on battery...
Yes the alternators are missing. It appears the truck may have had a snow plow on it.(missing bumper, light on cab, quick connect electrical connection on front (not nato slave plug). All the wires appear to be stock. When I taped all the alternator wires and put in 2 good batteries, turned...
I tried taping all the ends seperately and got nothing. The batteries i put in were good. Not even a noise when I turned the key, I also tried moving the transmission shifter to make sure it was in park, and also tried it in neutral, no luck. Any suggestions?
Is it possible to start my 6.2 without alternators?(I think it must be). If so do I need to bypass the alternators somehow? What do I do with all the wires for the alternators? Any help would be appreciated. I'd like to see if the motor starts and runs before I spring for a couple of...
I had this saved from somewhere? It may be of some help. Good luck.
From your description your GEN1 is not working. With the key on and engine not running, both idiot lights must be working for the alternators to work. They are part of the excitor circuit.
When testing the alterernator...
Has anyone removed the power steering pump pully? How do you get it off? My bracket that holds the pump is broke in 2 places and I think you have to take the pully off to get to the bracket. Thanks for any help.
I read a while ago that someone used the trailer springs and hangers, took the spring pack apart and added the helper leafs (and made one spring pack) and didn't have to use blocks. Never did see a picture of it.
FYI, I changed head gaskets last year. I broke the military head bolt wrench taking off the heads and ended up getting a socket welded to a box wrench( sorry no pics). I then used the military head bolt wrench to torque the heads back on after the threads were cleaned up and oiled. Good luck
I broke a head bolt wrench from Saturn while trying to remove the head bolts. I had a wrench fabricated (used a box wrench and socket). Removed the head bolts with no problem with the fabricated wrench and then used the Saturn head bolt wrench to torque the head back on.
I would like to use the original box/bed, I know there are quite a few people here that have used the original box/bed and was asking where they cut theirs and why?
I think I've seen the box cut in different places, and was looking for advantages and/or disadvantages of cutting it in different locations. I realize the frame needs to be cut at the rear. Thanks
