Smith and Edwards is still open, Mr Smith passed about a month ago. Sad day, I need to go up there again, it is like a 2 and a half hour drive from where i am at, so Ive only been there once. But yeah, need to go and see what more they have there.
We went and worked on the Goat, I took the cover off the injector and rack, and the things that go in the injector, the governor moves freely, but the rack is stuck. Here are some pictures, I am not sure what is wrong, Any help is of course much appreciated.
Well on Tuesday, we towed the DUKW home using our 1991 M923 5 ton. WE went about 8 miles an hour on average and it took an hour to get home. We went so slow because the DUKW didn't have hardly any brakes and we didn't have time to get them to work. Overall, it was a very good recovery. It now...
Yeah thank you all for having interest. We are way excited to have it, I cant quite say when we will do the engine swap on it, but it will be quite an experience, and it is a big draw vehicle. Thanks.
Well went out to do some work on it today to try and get it to start to drive home, but come to find out the engine is more than likely seized. Luckily with the purchase came another DUKW engine. So now we get to do an engine swap.
My buddy found some research and told me that they did produce a few hundred dukws in 1941, and then in 1942 they went into full blown production, but if that is the correct sn, then the numbers shouldn't lie, I will get better pics of the plates and post them up.
Thanks we are pretty proud of it, and in my home town too!!! So no major transporting. We changed one of the tires on it, because it has say like this for 20+ years, and so we switched it for the pare and on Friday we are going to go and see if we can get it running easily, if not we are gonna...
So we just bought a DUKW. It is delivery date 11-41. It is in really good conditions and we got it for a good price. Looking for any more info on it, this is our first big WWII vehicle. It will be participating in all of Freedom Vehicles association's (freedomvehilces.org) events and such. Any...
That is a pretty sweet video, maybe when we get ours all finished we will go and do some capabilities testing on it. That could be fun and make a very interesting video.
ok will do, but I think it has something to do with the governor, because we compared the two governors on both the goats, and the one we are working on seemed to not be functioning properly.
Ok will do, Thanks. I do have a question for some of you goat owners, or people acquainted with the Goat, how do I get the governor to work? As I mentioned when it starts up, it just keeps going, the rpms just keep ramping up, how do I get it to idle speed?
SO I would like to start out with saying a few things about our association, Freedom Vehicles.
It was an idea tossed around by a few guys, me my father, and a buddy, and then this idea turned into an actual non profit association. The reason we had this idea is because the local military...
Ok, so where they are stored is like in the middle of no where, and so when I go I want to make sure I don't forget anything. I have been doing some studying and reading out of the tm, which is helpful. But I love to get advice from Goat owners. Thanks.
