Might want to try running it up to 60 mph on jack stands or a hoist with the wheels removed. Make sure you install lug nuts to keep drums on. This will tell you if the drums are the culprit.
I made a light bar that is mounted to one side of the bed. It slides into the stake pocket and fastened with 2 bolts. I made it so it doesn't sit higher than the cab roof and doesn't catch on any trees or branches. Works well for my needs.
Initially I was just going to say that isn't worth getting back on the road- then I saw it has the upgraded axles.
Now I'm jealous! That will be a great project and one tough blazer when finished.
If you are not familiar with the 8.1 engine do some reading before you spend any money. They Dont...
Maybe. But I wouldn't trust them in my truck. 100 degrees hotter doesnt mean much to me. If the system is working properly it shouldn't mean much. Do yourself a favor and pick up a set of the AC 60G glow plugs from rock auto and you won't have any problems.
Get the bfg Baja t/a in the E rated. I put these on after a set of the goodyears. Balance with 8 oz. of beads.I can run lower air pressure in these since they have heavier sidwwalls and the ride is much smoother. No road noise that I notice. $150 each new from Feltz Auto and Tire. Traction is...
Check with Browns of Two Rivers. Their price is $40 for an inner fender. I Dont know if they would ship via ups for the inner fender because of its size but its worth checking. And their price is cheaper than lmc from what I saw
I blast my trucks engines frequently with a high pressure steam with no problems. Of course, Dont blast water in the air cleaner or while engine is hot/running and you will be fine. I even do the inside of the cab once in a while. You would be surprised what comes off these trucks with steam...
How much room do you need to get some adjustment for the valve? If you were to cut a spacer out of 1/4 inch plate aluminum and ad another gasket between the upper and lower would this give you enough clearance? If you only need a minor amount of rise to clear the valve maybe you can stack a...
Well I'm glad to hear you can finally enjoy the fruits of your labor. That was a long project drawn out by faulty products and faulty customer service.
This should now be a truck you can get into and run anywhere. I'm curious to hear what kind of milage you can pull out of it.
Thanks for...
My m1008 did the same thing. Surging, and suddenly just shut off. It turned out to be the fuel line under the cab. It developed a small pin hole where it rubbed on the bottom of the cab. It was on the passenger side where the line crosses from the fuel tank to the passenger side frame rail...
That's comparing apples to oranges imho. The sidewall strength on these 10 ply tires are plenty strong enough for this, and combined with the bead locks I dont see any problems after 10,000 miles.
My 1031 has a lift with 37 inch tires. I started out with the Goodyear MT tires and it rode rough. I then put on a set of 10 ply BFG Baja ta tires that are 1O ply, I run these with only 15 psi and it makes for a much smoother ride since the side walls are stronger and absorb the bumps much...
I agree with Westech, it sounds like the shop you took it to isn't capable of performing the swap and is making lame excuses. Do some research and see where it leads you. These are good engines to start learning about the diesel engine. Parts are reasonably priced and the average joe can still...
I went with the Trilliant lights from Grote. Got some cheap on flea bay because they are 24 volt, but that's fine for those of us who have 24 volt. These lights are also available in 12 volt. I wish a picture could show how well they work. I feel they are the best light out there. They draw only...
