Just had a 55 gal. drum of NEW oil given to me for the truck fuel, Any idea what they put in cutting oil that could hurt the injection pump? its make by Lyondell company , ML-25 .
I would have to agree if the fluid smelled burnt. I would bet on some moisture in the valve bank. Like others have said, change the oil and filter. Take the filter apart and look inside the mesh part, ( I pry them apart with a screwdriver) if you see clutch parts or brass then its time to...
Natem, Did yours come with filters? there would have been no way to tell what the inside of the cans looked liked with them screwed on. mine was one with new paint, rebuilt in 2010 187 hours , did you have problems finding filters or did you have them on hand? Nice to hear yours works ...
I picked up my Mep-002a made is 1990, for some reason all the filters are gone, the oil can is almost rusted through, the fuel tank is very rusty in the bottom, fuel lines are all loose and full of water. lots of sand blasting . They must of sat around for some time with no fluids...
The theory is it keeps the crank from slapping the oil around in the pan thus loosing horsepower , It has to do with a vortex at high rpm's and pulling the oil up. Its one of those add on free horsepower things racers love.
Lead was used for longer valve life and octane booster, if you run premium gas and a cap full of dextron per gallon you should be fine. This is a common practice used in antique tractors with old engines. Dextron is high is detergents and provides some valve lube.
Airport gas is one hundred low lead , most farmers use 90+ in old tractors or you can add a few oz of Dextron oil to each tank for upper lube. No need to pay extra for aircraft fuel
Spray some carb cleaner in the air cleaner and see if it will fire, if not check for spark and then compression test. You need Compression , Fuel and Spark . Now just need to find what part you don't have.
Hopefully it wasn't like the one close to me at the American legion that got sold, my friend works at the towing company who got the job to remove it , only to be told by uncle Sam that it wasn't allowed to be sold and had to come back.
Also made it home safe , and also thanks to Gungearz for the spaghetti dinner, you did a 5 star job. I need to find the wiper mod on here, the stock ones don't do the job, and one minor stop by Rural king for a .13 bolt and nut to fix a mirror/tree problem before 465. Hope to see you...
A bad battery cable or connection point will also cause this problem, The solenoid is not getting the proper amps to keep it locked in the start cycle.
looks like it broke right in the center of the welds, I wouldn't feel safe with one towing anything very big from now on. Give the company a call and see where it gets you and Thanks for the pictures .
What kind of camping will it be? My wife , daughter and her boyfriend want to go. Are the tents ok, and I assume no plug in power? Also can a car get back to where camping will be?
