I am having some work done on my CUCV and they said I have an Olds engine in my Chevy. Does that sound right to you? I got it directly from the military so I know it's all original. Any difference in the engines or were they blowing more smoke than my truck?
Thanks for the block heater advice. Unfortunately I live in an apartment complex and do not have assigned parking or an outside plug to connect a block heater.
I changed out the military fuel filter in my M1008 for a spin on type. I has a Racor 490R30 spin on filter with water detector installed.
With winter approaching I was thinking I might need to install a fuel line heater. Something that would heat the fuel when I flip the switch to heat the...
All the indicator lights work. Turn signals work. The only lights that do not work or the center lights for speedo and fuel. Checked/changed the bulbs. Checked the fuses. Checked/changed the headlight switch. When I turn on the headlights I do not have any dash lights.
Any suggestions...
I looked at all the postings and I saw the routing listed two different ways. I would like to confirm the routing just to make sure I have it right.
I will be using Gatorback belts so I will list their part numbers as part of the confirmation.

I know that some of the parts are drying up for the CUCVs. I guess the GP module is the big one and maybe the CDR. I was wondering if anyone has compiled a list of either alternate part numbers or even a list of special parts that we should get to keep these things on the road. I am not a...
Does anyone have a bad one they would like to get rid of? I would like to see what it would take to repair them but I don't want to use mine to experiment on. If I can figure out how to fix them it could be good for all of us.
If you have some you want to get rid of send me a PM and I will...
It looks like I will need to replace my glow plug module. Does anyone have a source on these? I
am still trouble shooting the no start issues (the wait light does not come on and no clicking). I know it could be something other than the module but worst case I may end up with a spare module...
I purchased a set of G70 glow plugs for my 86 M1008 and they have spade connectors. After I got them I noticed the glow plugs in the truck have bullet(?) connectors. I guess the military uses both types because the truck came off of the military base that way.
From what my mechanic friend...
I kicket this conversion around. for those of you that did it in a M1008 how much did it change you mileage? I am getting 15 mpg average now. What could I expect if I did a conversion?
Thanks for the kind offer I would appreciate that. PM me if you find extras in your batch of 120 cans. I did order some of the NATO type from a member here so that may be all I need but if I can find one of the Scepter type at a reasonable price I would like to get the current issue. I picked...
Don't worry you didn't ruffle my feathers. If the other person name was posted her I would not have said anything because it is not my intention to insult anyone. I am only discussing principal here. I was careful to point out you did not do anything wrong. I am only commenting on the person...
I don't know who jumped in and bought it before I had a chance to reply. That type of behavior would generall be considered rude on some sites. I should have at least been give a change to reply. That said I hope you are happy with your $55 dollar spout. If you had been a little more patient...
I am looking for a Scepter Military Fuel Can Spout NSN 7240-00-177-6154. I was able to get a few of the Military plastic fuel cans now I need some nozzels.
Does anyone know where I can purchase one or more?
I want a M1009 next. I got a M1008 about 6 months ago and I am hooked. If you don't mind my asking what did you get it for? I am trying to come up with some idea of the average cost on these so I can set aside some money for the project.
Probably everyone ELSE knows this but here goes anyway.
I am having problems with my 1986 M1008 windshield washer pump and try as I might I could not find a replacement until now. I went to mctruck and found a washer pump repair kit on page 165. It is listed under the 1973-84 parts list...
I found the manual. It is right here in the resources section along with a bazillion other manuals. Next time I need something I think I will look under my nose first.
