Thank you for your reply...sounds like a cool way to do some welding out in the field. I watched a you tube video and with the pos. for ground they had a good weld with minimal splatter!
My M38A1 was 24V but was converted to 12V. It still has the generator on it and I was curious of what I had to do to use it as a welder in the field?
Thanks
My M38A1 doesn't have the WP distributor or WP plug wires.
Would that mean it isn't equipped with the ventilation system for the crankcase, Trans, T/C, front and rear end, brakes, fuel tank and valve cover?
It does have the metal shields where the wiring connects.
Also, would there be a...
My M38A1 didn't come w/ the water proof plug wires and WP distributor. It does have the metal shields where the wiring connects to one another.
Would that mean I wouldn't have the ventilation system for crankcase, transmission, TC, valve cover and brake system?
Also the vacuum for the...
I bought them from Surplus Army Warehouse and he told me he was sure three would work but thought the 4th might be short...back plug.
All 4 fit though....very little slack. He told me I could buy 0ne or as many as I liked and could return one or as many that I didn't want.
Real good people to...
OH OH thanks for letting me know. They were for M38 but were suppose to work on the M38A1 also. Does the change of angle cause problems with the sparks performance?
Thanks
WP plugwires
I ordered some water proof spark plug wires and the rubber cover stops about 1 1/2" from the 90 degree ends.
The braided steel is exposed from there.
Will they still be water proof? They are NOS.
Thanks
The Early Cj 5 site mentioned those same items. My generator is still on but has a partial broken base. I would like to do the WP distributor, plug wires and snorkel for now and see what I gain from that
The Early CJ 5 site mentioned several ways to do what I'm trying to accomplish. I may even...
Tell me if I am thinking straight...I've had one of my jeeps sitting in the garage and the distributor and coil have been saturated with condensation and would not start until I wiped them down, blew compressed air on them and still have to wait for them to dry before I could crank up.
I'm...
Is there a picture that shows how the original ventilation system looks? I want to put a snorkel on it also...is there picture of how it is assembled?
Thanks
Someone mentioned I could get water proof distributor and spark plugs wires from some outlet that sells them for generators. Does any one know where I can find them?
