No...according to the installation none of that was needed. All I had to do was keep track of bearing cap order and put them back in the positions they were in.
I have installed the Lock-Rite in the rear of my M38A1. The first day I drove it there was little noise...only clicks when cornering. Now it is making a Hellish noise which
seems to happen when the pinon gear shaft travels into the pumpkin case. I can jack the rear end up and shift into...
Yes, off road ability is what I am looking far too. I've always been confused why vehicles with one back and one front tire pulling are called 4 wheel drives.

Can anyone help me find a locker for the D 44 in the M38 A1...I believe it is a 10 spline axle? I have been browsing the archives and threads
gaining more knowledge but not able to lay my hand on a locker.
Some have talked about going to a 19 spline axle in the D 44 and buying the proper...
I just looked at my M38A1 tank, (not yet installed) and it is the shape of the compartment I'm referring to. I have a temporary tank in the jeep now that doesn't have a drop down section on it, so that's why I was puzzled about the empty area in the floor below it.
What I have is a 19" x 14" x 3" deep compartment that doesn't take up the whole fuel tank dimension but is part of the floor metal and is 3"s below the fuel tank.
I have a restorer who says the waterproof distributor and spark plug wires alone will provide no benefit to prevent no cranks or starting when distributor and plug wires would be wet.
Is this true and am I on a rabbit trail?
Thanks
