Anyone put real gauges in their CUCV? I'd love to have temp, oil pressure, voltage that works, maybe oil temp, RPM. Idiot lights are okay, but you know... I'm wondering what it would take to replace the idiot lights with real information.
I don't know what happened to the grill guard, it wasn't there when I got it. It didn't have shackles either, but I got some on E-bay. I keep them in the cab so they don't bang around. I can attach them when needed.
Color? Rustoleum camo deep forest green. :)
Where do you get tires like that? And you need new rims, correct? I thought the CUCV came with 16", not 16.5".
I have a K5 blazer with a 4" lift, and looking at the CUCV it looks to be the equivalent of 2-3" of lift just from the 1-ton suspension. I plan to fender trim enough to fit 35" or...
It took me a while, but I found the story. Took a fair amount of custom work to get that in there. I wonder if I can find a used mount like that instead of having to fab my own... I do need to practice my welding though.
Anyone install a winch on a CUCV truck (M1008)? I'd like to, but I'm not sure how to mount it. I saw a picture in Peterson's magazine of a CUCV with some kind of winch mount under the original bumper. That's how I'd like to go, but Warn and Ramsey don't show mount applications that old.
Be careful, a guy named "thepartsplaceinc" sold me a complete piece of garbage by misrepresenting it and wouldn't take it back. I found numerous other people who had the same problem, but E-bay wouldn't step in.
Hey guys. I'm planning to change the gear lube in my rear axle since it looked pretty sludgy when I pulled the axle out. Anyway, can someone confirm that it only takes 2 liters to fill it? Seems kind of low, but that's what the manual says. Also, is there any sort of drain plug anyplace, or...
I put in a new drive shaft. I bought a complete balanced shaft with CV joint in place of the upper U-joint. It still has the slip yoke for the NP208. I've had no problems and was able to eliminate the T-case drop.
I'm not aware of any good kits to eliminate the 208 slip yoke. If you are...
Mangus, I wouldn't drop the T-case. Depends on your funding situation, but on my K5, I have a 4" lift and installed a rear driveshaft with a CV joint on the T-case side. Fixes stuff right up. I think I did have to sink a few hundred bucks into the driveshaft though. The other thing is that...
Oops, I didn't read the title that said "arctic heater kits". duh.
Anyway, that sounds cool. So they plumb into the gas tank somehow for fuel? How long do they recommend running the heaters before firing up? Where do you mount all that stuff? How much did it cost?
I assume more...
I have the civvy conversion on my M1008, or most of it. The person who installed it (not me), left off the temp switch and just connected pin C to the glow plug voltage. I'm not sure if it's a big deal, just means they run all the time. If I decide to make it right, what do I need? Is the...
Is the proper procedure to use the zero-rust underneath and then the cammy over that? I'm sure bummed I didn't hear about this before I did the whole thing with rustoleum! I'll wait for the rustoleum to wear off before I do it all over again. Maybe next spring or something.
