Okay thanks. My truck is already converted, but actually converted so it's wired like the civ version. The tech article must be describing more of a hybrid situation I guess.
If this controller fails some day, I'll consider a fully manual push button setup.
What is the purpose of the indicator light relay? Can't you just go straight to the light from the glow plug voltage?
Also, my Haynes book says the civ systems use 6V glow plugs? Does the controller only make 6V on its output? Seems like if you go to a manual setup, you'd need 12V plugs -...
I'm in for one. I'm trusting that they go significantly higher on E-bay? I don't need one now, but I will someday, so the idea is to save money and frustration at that time.
Depending on the price, I'd take several. If we really got them for $5-10 each, I'd take them all. Keep a couple for spares and sell the rest on E-bay.
I'd take one. I assume the starting bid is $50 each, not $50 for all 13, right? I take it they won't ship anything either, right? If they would, I'd consider buying all of them and selling them individually on E-bay.
Interesting that RPM is available via the connector. I wonder what options that opens up for plain old tachs. I was considering the autometer alternator based tach, but that's a pain since it needs to be calibrated at a shop.
Thanks for the replies, I'll try the thermostat first, then maybe some flush. I plan to add a temp gauge soon, just not sure where to put the sender yet.
That dude is my idol. My tuck is too rusty to ever look that good, but I'd still like to know how he did the gauges. Almost looks like he put small extra gauges in front of the idiot lights. Seems possible since the bezels are pretty deep.
I guess the first question is whether the civ gauges would screw in to the same spots as the idiot lights. Seems likely, but doesn anyone know for sure?
I think the coolant temp sender ought to fit the same spot as the temp switch for the idiot light. Anyone know about the oil pressure...
My CUCV pickup makes very little heat it seems. I paid attention on a 25 minute drive last night and the air coming from the heat ducting was maybe 70 degrees. I'm not sure if something's broken, or if diesels just run this cool.
Wish I had a temp gauge.
