    M818 throwout bearing failure (bigtime!)

Thats what I was told by one of the guys at the CSMS. "Just stick your tanker bar on the window sills and hang your come-along from that." Tax dollars at work. - I love those guys! ~ Pappa-g

    M818 throwout bearing failure (bigtime!)

I just pulled my 818 around to change my T/O bearing today. Just my luck no fancy transmission tool hoist thing and no air tools, I'm betting it takes longer than 3 hours.

    Personal Rant....... 5 ton wanted......

I believe that GL should limit the number of simular lotts that one bidder can buy. Thats just me. Back 20 years ago when it was live auction by DRMO I bought a 1984 1008 for $800 and would buy lotts of 3 M416 trailers for $75(yes I paid $25 each for them). Now your best bet for parts and...

    Looking for a M818 Tractor

Price depends on condition but generaly speaking good condition under $4k -grab it. Not so much "ride" like a big rig but WAY more power than a duce and better drive than a duce.(power steering, extra 100hp, muffler) Not sure of civilan trailer compatability. I've got one in MI I'll sell...

Add Acetone for better diesel mileage?

I had ran aceatone for a summer several years ago in a 1999 TDI VW. I would add 2.5oz per tank (15gal). I drove 100 miles a day 5 days a week. Adding aceatone made no measurable difference. Running B20 biodiesel would get me additional 2mpg. The greatest increase came from how the car was...

    M818 w/M105 bed swap question

Ok so back to the question, bed aginst the cab or keep the tool box and spare tire rack? The bobed picture has a diamond plate bumper covering the frame rails. A fellow could mount a swing out spare rack there...hmmmm or a small swing out crane. options options ... opinions?

The question is this, do I keep the spare rack and tool box and just have the 105 box spaced behind the spare / tool box or pitch...

?? Source for 800 series throwout bearing

Mine took a shat also. Your access panel scrap looks like what I pulled out of mine. I'm waiting for warmer weather before I repair it though. Eastern surplus has them in I think the $70 price range. Have fun!

    Aircraft tug question??

The MB4 that I used back in the mid-late 80's was a Chevy truck cab and powered with a 6.2L diesel. It had reduction gears at each hub, 4wheel steering and were permanently in 4wd low range. I towed any thing from twin seat trainers to C-130's with the MB4. They had a top speed of maybe 25mph...
