I used a standard puller to remove the old balancer . Then I just bought a long bolt, nut and used the washer from the old crank bolt to install the new balancer.
:? Yeah it has no filter, just a magnet. So the oil has to be changed every 3000 miles per Gear Vendors. 1-1/2 bottles of Lucas synthetic 75W90 gear oil.
I mean here's just the first ones that popped up on google...https://www.accuratediesel.com/shop/17.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6Zy_-fns2QIVRWV-Ch3l7QaWEAQYASABEgLiyvD_BwE
That price is ridiculous :cookoo:. I'd just get stock 6.2 non turbo injectors. 6.5 ones with flow more, but that's the same as turning up the fuel 1/8.
Agree I'd pull the valve covers sense their leaking anyways. Might be rocker shaft came loose or a pushrod not seated properly. BTW permatex right stuff is what you want for the valve...
Sure, but not once your moving LOL! The most famous CUCV on Instagram is the "Red witch". It's a faded red M1010 contact maintenance, riding on 37" HMMWV tires. He pulls a 25'-30' trailer delivering trucks and heavy equipment all over the country with it.
It goes behind the transfer case, in place of the tail shaft. The only reason I went with the Gear vendors is it was faster & easier to install then adapting a whole AOD trans. My M1028 is my only transportation so I needed it up & running ASAP. 2 days total,..(1) day to install, and (1) day to...
Also you need to study the TM's as best you can, check out the "WIKI" at the top of the forum page. And remember this low mileage truck has sat for 30+ years so ANYTHING RUBBER IS ROTTED! Start with the brakes, replace all rubber lines, calipers, wheel cylinders, and pads & shoes. The brake...
Yeah driving a CUCV is not for the faint of heart, especially over long distances. If you plan on driving a CUCV regularly on the highway you'll need to consider an overdrive trans and/or larger tires (35"-37"). Here's a cool RPM calculator to help you understand...
Welcome ...33" tires are as big as you can comfortably go without a lift, and should be fine on stock rims. Safe top speed is 55MPH. The O.D. green paint is readily available, I see it on Ebay for around $60.00 per gallon delivered.
Agreed I was thinking the same thing. You should do a compression test, and pressure test on the coolant system. You may have a crack or blown gasket between two cylinders.
Well it'll never break again. My truck is a daily driver/work truck. So I need as much storage as possible. How people do you know that actually keep gloves in their glove box?
According to this RPM calculator you'd be at 1755-RPM's at 70-MPH. Which would be pretty low, thus lugging along at 70-MPH. Maybe a lower set of gears are in order?https://www.ringpinion.com/calculators/Calc_RPM.aspx
Forgive me if you mentioned this (long thread), but what size tires are you running? And are you running an overdrive trans? My M1028, Banks turbo, Gear vendors OD, 31" tires. Depending on which temp gauge I'm running :shrugs:. Will run 210°-215° at 70-80 MPH.
Thanks, Yeah I'm on the lookout for something a little more permanent, but just not made of metal. So as to break away in the event of an accident. The best thing I've added so far is a trash bag. You'd be amazed how much cleaner a work/daily driver is once you have a place for the trash.
