Check your engine ground straps and your battery connections. You could check your fuses under the dash by the emergency brake too. Could be an ignition switch too. Get a 24v test light and hook it to the starter ignition terminal. Turn the key and see if it lights up. If it doesn't, may be a...
Mine is directly over the driver's side engine valve cover.... There is a little diamond shaped junction lug it is hooked to and it goes to the glow plug pot. Mine was upgraded to the solid state controller by the military before I got it. Forgot about the old resistor system. So I guess it...
That's crazy! Never seen that before. I learned something today! All my 1/2 tons always had the backing plate windows. Glad the mystery is hopefully solved.
Sounds like the stator in the torque converter. If the stator goes, you loose all your stall speed and it can cause the engine to stall because the torque converter isn't slipping at low RPM like it should. It is trying to transfer power from the engine to transmission at all RPMs, not just...
Get a test light or multimeter and check for power at the glow plugs with the ignition on. If you have no power at the plugs, it is probably the controller. Check your fuses as always too. You can jumper out the glow plugs to a push button or toggle switch and a relay if need be. Otherwise I...
Did you check your driveshaft angles? Optimum angle should be within 2 degrees of each other at the transfer case and the axle. May have to shim your axles or drop your transfer case a bit. Or could be a lousy U-joint...
I agree with MudderMilitia about checking the springs first. All the pricing for the shackle flips and pretty much everything else is on www.offroaddesign.com. They are the ones who make the shackle flip. They have a link on the shackle flip page to an article on Colorado K5's site where they...
The 4" lift is easy as can be to do. Just need some jack stands and a floor jack or two. Especially if you do the rear shackle flip. I didn't have to mess with the rear axle at all. Just disconnected the rear stock shackle, cut it off, jacked up the truck and bolted on the new shackle brackets...
Yeah. Interstate seconds work pretty well and are only $45. I found this out after I spent $100 on a Napa commercial truck group 31...
I'd stay away from deep cycles though. They usually lack starting power and cost more because they are deep cycle... The group 31 is mainly for big trucks...
I got the 37" Goodyear Radials and they handle and ride awesome. I have one oval one, but the other 3 even balanced quite well. $350 for the set of 4 on Ebay with 98% tread. Mounted them on 16.5x10 American Racing aluminum Baja wheels that I picked up for about $108 each. I have a 4" suspension...
Hahaha! Right?! They claim some land speed racer guy already did it. They said they had an article on it in their January '09 issue. I didn't get the magazine at that time, so I don't know what he did to it. It would be interesting to find out though...
My M1008 was having all sorts of crazy brake issues and it ended up being mixed brake fluid. The previous owner added DOT3 to the DOT5 system. After I drained it all out and bled the lines clean the brakes have been working great! DOT3 and DOT5 mix like oil and water. Or actually more like...
