:ditto: holy crap.... i'd be suprised if it moved. I wouldn't tow much over 6,000 to 7,000 on the m1008 and u'd be moving pretty darn slow. Not to mention it has much stronger axles and much lower gears.
Hey guys, I'm ordering a new inner fender for my m1008 since the current one is rotted out. I was on lmc and they don't even allow you to select a k30, just a k20. I figured it would be the same but just wanted to make sure. Are they going to be the same inner fender?
I'm going to try to make it this year guys. If I can it will be me, my father(I still have only permit), and a friend in a stock m1008. I still have some work to do on it but I'll try to be there
Good that your truck is running good now. To bad about all the hassle it was. I got a 91 dakota and its been beat up very bad but everything still is running fine at 114,000 now. There good trucks in my book. Hope you don't have any more suprises :?
How do you get these stinking things off? I have yanked and pulled on them but they refuse even after pushing that little silver tab on the back of them.
How do i get them off? I have some bad rust holes in the firewall that i want to patch and need to remove this panel to get a better look and what a PITA im going to be dealing with. Help appreciated
well i got a book out of the library however it seems to be quite dated and on top of it is only for specialized fields of welding.
I purchased a book off of amazon that should help point me in the right direction and start practicing welds soon :p
yeah the m1008's and other trucks chirp from the detroit. however with the m1009 having the gov lock. I've never heard of a gov lock chirping the tires so you should probably look into it.
:ditto: a 14bolt and and dana 60 are way stronger then the 10bolt. I would of thought the m1009 would be a slug plowing but apparently not. Do you have to use low range or does it do fine in 4hi?
I don't know exactly but I believe there have been some issues relating to the vacuum pump and the lines to it. Do a search for it. I know my truck shifts to 3rd at 25.
yes they have vo tech at my school but the way they do it is the kids who go don't go to school half the year. Then for the other half they cram all the work in. Due to the short time to teach all the information only general education classes are taught. I'm taking mostly honors courses and an...
That would be a good idea. however I'm only 15 turning 16 next week lol. I work during the summer and obviously can't do it during the school year. We have a lot of junk metal around our farm so at least I will have a lot to practice on.
Alright guys thanks for all the great advice, so now with a mig i will have wire and gas. I assume the wires are available in different thicknesses. What thinkness do you recommend for sheet metal? Also are there different gases you can use? If so what type of gas would i use for sheetmetal?
congrats on the new ride! I take it your trying to restore it back to original specs since you want the blackout light pieces and to make it camo again. There great trucks to work on and drive. I can't really share tips with ya being how far away I am so all I'll say is look at the TM's whenever...
alright thanks for the advice nhdiesel. I guess I will be looking at a gas mig welder then.
now for voltages. I have 220v but only in our equipment building. However since thats where i have been doing most of the work anyway I have no problem with 220v. Let me see if I'm understanding the...
