Well a quick update. Looks like the pan is solid, no leaks! I headed down to the local off road park with some friends of mine who helped me with the pan and we joined the SS group there for their spring rally. Drove the truck all day off road, and 2hr's round trip on the highway and not a drop...
hmmm idk where to purchase them otherwise beside ORD. I'm sure somoene can chime in who does. There pretty cheap though, the springs and bushings were 20 some dollars from ORD.
p.s: Is that your truck in the sig? If so it looks great. what lift and tires do you have?
Yeah miles on these trucks don't really mean much. Yeah that death wobble gets your attention pretty good lol. I remember the first time it happened to me i was doing 55 on the freeway. Definate pucker factor on that one.
To the OP. Sir I salute you. It took me about 7 hr's total to complete this job lol. I had issues since the first lug nut came off the wheel. Some impact jockie had gone to town on the front lugs. It took an breaker bar and a 4ft pipe to get each lug nut off. Took a while for me to remove each...
:ditto: Most all say its the kingpin bushings and spring. I have the same issue. I replaced my steering stabilizer and the old one was definately shot. I have new kingpin springs and bushings coming in the mail. You can purchase them from offroad design.
Hey guys me and my friends are going to try and head down saturday morning in my m1008. What time should we be there by to avoid being left behind like before?
Yea thats what I was figuring. I'm gonna be workin on this stuff all week. I still have the pan out it was rusted to heck so I cleaned it up and painted it grabber green lol.
Well guys after a day or two of pb soaking and a propane torch it didn't budge. Now the nut is rounded off so I said screw and just pulled on the pan a little until the tube popped off and the pan came out. I'm just wondering how I'm going to be putting the pan in/making sure the gaskets don't...
Hey guys, well I've been following your advice and so far the job hasn't been to bad. however, right before I dropped the pan, I realized I didn't unhook the dip stick and its tube. How did you guys remove the pan. With the bracket being hooked to the manifold it is rusted to high heaven and...
Yeah that mat was a bad idea for them to install. When I removed mine it pretty rusted, luckily the floor was still solid. I ripped out the carpeting, and sanded the living crap out of it, followed by some naval jelly, rinsed and repeated. Then I just painted the floor in truck bed liner. Looks...
:ditto:
Welcome to the site. Your not really going to be able to get any more fuel efficiency from the m1009. Well easily at least. It already has gearing for highway speeds. Also there are no real restrictions in the air/exhaust system to add up some free mileage. I would just go through and...
Matt that is awesome! I'm also 16 and drive my m1008 to school a lot. I'd love to be able to drive a deuce in. I can imagine the faces already, heck my m1008 gets me looks. I bet peoples jaws just about hit the floor when you pulled up in that beast! Keep it up and drive safe :grd:
Thanks sooooo much for the info! I've been neglecting to do mine after reading the manual and seeing all the steps that they show. Thanks for the tips so that I can get this done a lot faster!
Alright guys thanks for the info. So basically a 4" lift you can keep the driveshafts. From 5-6 your pushing it. and above that new shafts are going to be needed. Now I have to piece together my budget. A 4" would be easy but the trucks look pretty BA with a 6-8" lift
Hey guys, Looking for how I'm going to lift my m1008 in the future and depending on funds, I'm basically looking at either a budget maybe 4" lift, with shackle flip in the rear , or do it right with a 6-8", crossover steering yadah yadah. How high can you lift the truck and keep the stock drive...
Heres a tiny bit of snow. We had over 2ft last year but unfortunately I spent to much time with the truck playing in it then taking pictures
