    Glow Plug Removal Tool

I am holding the break-and-retrieve as a last resort. I ordered the OTC tool and will give it a shot. Many thanks for the feedback. -Economist.

    Glow Plug Removal Tool

Yes sir, I did. As a matter of fact, I posted to that thread and did not get a response. Given that my application is the HMMWV, I posted to the HMMWV sub forum to try to get a more targeted response. Thanks for the link and happy holidays, -Economist.

    Glow Plug Removal Tool

I have also seen the one in the TM's (Figure D 63.1). If anyone has experience with one of those, I would love to hear about it. I may try to fab up one of those instead. Cheers. -Economist.

    Glow Plug Removal Tool

Do any of you folks have a glow plug removal tool like this? GLOW PLUG TOOL This looks like the preferred method. I am weighing my options on making or buying. Unfortunately, the one in the attachment is out of stock. If I could rent or borrow one, that would be great. Happy to let the...

    Oil Pressure M998

It is entertaining to look at the auctions, the for sales, the web listings etc. At least in part, I am trying to feel like I got a good deal (not always confirmed). Then I end up sending an email or making a call and WHAMO, another vehicle on a truck transport coming my way. It there a...

    Glow Plug Removal Tool

Has anyone tried making the tool listed in the TM's for the HMMWV? It is figure D 63.1 on page 48 of Appendix D. I too went to order one from the company. Out of stock. I may try to fabricate the tool listed in the TM, but wanted to know if anyone has tried it first. Thanks.

    Slow to Start

New PCB box in now installed. The grounding strap was fairly easy to install as well. I did notice a fair amount of things rubbing under the doghouse. The mount for the transmission dipstick is split clean in 2. That was allowing the tube to rub under the doghouse, on the valve cover and on...

    HMMWV Sliding Windows

I will check the rivets. I did have to do some door alignment when I first bought it. Most of the slamming comes from my kids now. They think they are in my GMC 2500HD and need to put some umph to it. Will post a photo ASAP. Just getting back from NY and Baltimore. Good to have some shop...

    HMMWV Sliding Windows

Some of mine will not line up at this point and others pull out when the doors shut. Springs are my first step to try to fix it. Just don't want to get the window off and find that I need many more parts. -Economist.

    HMMWV Sliding Windows

I am about to take apart 3 of the windows on my X-doors. The TM's lay out a pretty straight forward process. I purchased new springs, but was wondering what else I may encounter that prevents the peg from engaging the hole in the door? Any experience on this one? Thanks. -Economist.

    Tailgate and Rhino Carrier

I like the simple solutions. I had never tried to undo the latch lock and move it further open. Many thanks!

    Tailgate and Rhino Carrier

Thanks for the reply. I like the idea of moving it over. Any photos you can post? Did you adapt another fuel can carrier or build from scratch?

Nice photo. Look like they have seen some action.

    Tailgate and Rhino Carrier

Will get one out tonight. An obvious omission on my part -- tough to have to be in my office 10 hours a day and not in my shop, where I really want to be. :-).

    Tailgate and Rhino Carrier

I have a Rhino swing away tire carrier that I installed on my M998. I see that Ted has one on the M998 just sold on Hummer Marketplace. Has anyone else installed one? My tailgate hits the tire carrier and will not open fully. I tried rotating the large nut that holds the arm threads in...

    Wheel hub lube.

When changing mine, I have used Lucas Hub Oil - Stop leak. Many of the Hummer guys recommended it for small leaks on the H1's. I had success on my H1 and gave it a try. It seems to work well on my M998 as well. Be careful with the hub drain plugs. It does not take much to spin the Allen...

    Slow to Start

I have not. If the new box, grounding straps, and check of the connections do not resolve, that will be next on my list. Thanks.

    Slow to Start

Grounding strap arrived from KASCAR. Glowplugs arrived a few days ago. New box is in route from the Hummerpartsguy. Everything is shaping up. I will look at all the grounding points and attach the new grounding strap over the long weekend. Then follow up with the new box and glow plugs the...

    Oil Pressure M998

No questions this is a disease. I bought my H1 and then kept looking for the M998. Hard to justify both. Settled on keeping those 2 and letting the M35A3 go. Hard choice, but I am with you and the difficulty of keeping all of the in tip top shape. Why do we keep looking at the auctions...

    Slow to Start

Sorry for delayed response on this comment. It cranks fine. Just occasionally is slow to start up. It has occasionally blown black smoke out at start up. I think I will replace glow plugs and controller (as both are over 20 years old as near as I can tell), track down all the connections and...
