    M936 Wrecker Hydraulic Hoist Motor

I need to correct the last post. Should say " Yeah that looks like a basic gear MOTOR" next "for the front and REAR housing" and lastly "able to pull a part NUMBER off of the seal"

    M936 Wrecker Hydraulic Hoist Motor

Yeah that is just a basic gear pump, probably a commercial intertech (which is now owned by Parker). The gear pumps and motors are basically the same design and are easily serviced esp. if all you have is a leak. if its leaking externally its most likely the output shaft lip seal in the front...

Quick tips on getting parts for m939s

I am definitely going to buy a parts truck(s) too, when I get a better hand on moving them. By the way when you find out how much that clutch fan is I bet a parts truck will look like a good bargain. Those things are expensive no matter what truck you need them for. With the price of a lot of...

MPG for 923a2 with 8.3 Cummins

The TM says 5.5-6 mpg for the A2s in general but who knows what kind of driving that covers. Big spread in weight over the lightest and heaviest models too. I got around 7 on the freeway for my M936A2 which is 16 thousand pounds heavier. But the M939 and M939A1s are listed at 3-4 mpg in the same TM

    It's not a deuce

That brings me to a question. Whats the purpose for a deuce in the Military in the first place( at least now). Having a whole different 3 axle lighter duty truck doesn't seem sensible. Nothing against the Deuce (well maybe a little). I guess the military figured that out with the newer Fmtv Lmtv...

    Shortened M923A2

So you only removed frame length from the rear of the frame(24") and was able to make it 3 feet shorter?

    Wrecker wishlist of mods

I know most of you are past the fire truck article but how amazing it is that one guy writing an article can effect the whole requisition program for the fire departments. I guess we should be thankful as since it should mean that there will be more trucks available for us. But like said before...

M936 Boom hoist mod to double cable length?

I am not following the last post #25 when you say "A 936 (even just the bed) would make a good civi, on call otr wrecker, a military wrecker has a VERY SPECIAL nitch that it fills, a civi, otr, on call road wrecker is NOT that nitch." Are you saying that a M936 is not designed to do do civi...

    M929 Big cam 400

Whats the difference between the NHC250 and the big cam as far as block dimensions. That goes for the cummins 855 350hp that I am thinking about using myself. Arent they all around 14 liters? I know the height is different due to Jakes. My doner cummins is a water cooled cooler design like the...

Quick tips on getting parts for m939s

I am new to these trucks and I am now in need for some parts. I have been snooping around the vender forums and it seems its hit and miss as far as specific parts go unless you want parts from salvage trucks. I was wondering what are the best options for parts for these trucks. I imagine it...

    M923A2 CTIS Problem

I also have a 5 lights a flashing issue which turned out at least at first to be one of the plugs going to PCU that has three wires going to it. The harness was replaced with what must have been a generic one as all the plug leads are way to long compared to original and were zip tied up under...

    Fontana to tracy ca.

I bought a M931A2 http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/view?auctionId=7302804 and was wondering if anyone can or knows who can transport this to Tracy Ca. 94514. I have driven these before but this one may not run and was interested in getting a quote if possible. 367 miles according to...

    Another fontana question

I have a questions relating to Fontana. I have been to Barstow and drove home 2 different M936A2s out of there both 350 mile trips pulling my pick up on back with a tow bar and was successful. I did have to deal with changing a tire and dealing with flats, not working temp and fuel gauges...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I watched the video of the exhaust and I tell you here in the Ca. Bay area they would probably arrest you for that! Especially under no load. We now have to smog out light duty diesel trucks (the HD trucks have been under attack for a while) and one of the tests is reving up the motor to 2500...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I remember seeing way back in this thread where another member had made a tool out of a socket where he cut it down to where it had 2 slots sticking out. I bet he has the same nut as you. I would go back and take a look at his homemade tool for reference. By the way my idle didn't change at all...

    What EGT Gauge to use?

What I like best about the Auber gauges is the warning features. I have a bunch of gauges in my F250 all Autometer but only 1 or 2 has the warning light feature and when it lights up you really notice it. With the driving requirements of these trucks It really helps when you don't have to...

M929A2 Dump truck Jake brake question

I never saw Jakes on a 8.3 but maybe they make them. You could add an exhaust brake at the end of the turbo, It doesnt have the same compression braking of a Jake but still would work for you and a lot cheaper and easier. A lot better then nothing.

    Death to the skinnys

That answers a question I had in my mind about wether singles on a 939 would fit and look just like an A2. Good to know

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

easy made tool I did the back of the pump screw out adjustment today on my M936A2. It definitely helped, not night and day but at least now I can feel it accelerate. But since a typical M923a2 weighs between 2/3 to 1/2 the weight of the wrecker, I am sure it would be felt much more with the...
