Agreed! sounds like the throttle cable is frayed. I just had mine break leaving me stuck in a busy intersection and having to be towed home. The pedal started sticking, but was only intermittent over the course of 3 days. I'd change the cable ASAP. The one I got from NAPA was horrible and...
Well finally I got around to re-building the alternator today. But the Gen2 light is still on? And also now I've noticed one of my (Optima batteries) is leaking acid. Could this be my problem? A bad battery?:shrugs:
Well before jumping to conclusions, I'd take 10 minutes out of your day and simply check all your gear boxes. If there's any contamination it will be obvious. As for diff gaskets, I'd recommend NOT using them. But instead Permatex gear oil RVT,.. here's a...
In Florida & Georgia you can put classic tags on anything 20yrs or older. In FL is actually cheaper then normal tags because you never have to renew them. However in GA they are considered "Vanity tags" and cost more to buy, and more to renew.
I've run the Dorman balancer for around 20,000 miles with no complaints. As for the removal & installation tool I couldn't find one from any of the parts stores that had the correct bolt for the re-install portion. So I ended up having to order a bolt & nut. And just used the washer from the old...
I would have definitely rigged something up if that was an option. However dead in the middle of a busy city intersection, with 1000lbs in the bed. I couldn't safely work under the hood, or push the beast off the road. For $60.00 I got it safely home on a flatbed, and parked perfectly under my...
Yeah I'm glad I JUST got AAA its already paid for itself. I just installed the new throttle cable from Napa:doh:. What an absolute piece of junk!!! First I had to cut 3/8" off the sleeve to make the cable reach the throttle linkage. Then I had to ream out the eyelet to fit over the stud. Then I...
I might consider that for the future, but unfortunately it wouldn't have helped me anyway. The truck came to a stop in the middle of a busy intersection with 1000lb load of steel in the bed. So pushing it, or fixing it was not an option:cry:.
Joined the broken throttle cable club today. Had to have AAA flat bed the M1028, 20 miles home. I ordered one from Napa they'll have it tomorrow morning so we'll see if this one fits:shrugs:
I need a little electrical help with this one, I checked the voltage of the little plug on top of the passenger side alt and it reads 12V... I think?:shrugs: And when I checked the drivers side alt plug it was zero? Gen1 is drivers side & Gen2 passenger correct?
If you really want a firmer more responsive pedal feel. Just do it right, swap the rubber lines out for ORD extended braided lines like I did. Much better quality then the stock rubber lines and you don't have to worry about them getting snagged or cut. Plus they'll probably outlast the truck2cents
Weld a nut on the stud, DO NOT put the temp sensor in the water pump the drivers side head is best, rubber trans lines aren't the end of the world just route them up over the trans & up out of the way.
Yes, thank you guy's. I made it back late last night and had some errands to run today. The light is still on, but everything seems to be working fine. It did go off for a short period today but is back on again. I unplugged the wire on the top of alt #2 and checked it. It was clean and greased...
Hey guy's I'm half way through a 600 mile trip and the Gen 2 light is dimly lit, and staying on. The belts are all tight and the volt meter is reading normally. (1st) Can I make it the rest of the way home? (2nd) Is there some simple things I can check for till I can make it home to my tools?
Yeah I didn't think of that. However you could fill out some paper work here's a link......http://concealednation.org/2015/07/how-hard-is-it-to-take-your-handgun-to-canada/
