Purchasing M1009, Have a Few Questions

Well for the past 3 years my M1028 has bin my (ONLY) transportation for me, and my furniture business. I drive approximately 2000 miles per month all over the state of GA. Including everything from grocery shopping, hauling 2000 LBS of steel, or hauling my furniture. I wanted an old truck to...

Well I found an ACdelco part #(36G0114) on rockauto for $123.00. It's a re-man also, not sure if this one would be better or not? If it was defective, it'd be a pain to send back, sooo thoughts?........ :shrugs:

Finally replaced my oil cooler lines today. Cut the ends off the old ones and replaced the rubber hose using jubilee clamps + replaced the rubber O-rings. Worked out really well (Thanks cucvrus), the whole thing took 45 minutes. And I think $15-$20.00 if I remember correctly? :shrugs:

    86 M1009 water fording ideas

So as I was falling asleep last night I had an idea:drool:. What if you plumbed all gear box vents to one manifold, and rigged up a small air pump & regulator. So you could pressurize all the gear boxes so water couldn't get past the seals? I would assume it wouldn't take much pressure, 5-10LBS...

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

I guess HMWWV's have a different set up then the CUCV's? Mine already has an overflow / expansion tank on the drivers side, which is fed buy the port just under the radiator cap. It looks like you'll need to offer 3 versions of the kit. (#1) HMWWV,... (#2) *Stock*CUCV,... (#3) CUCV with HMWWV...

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

I received the kit in the mail today thank you. But I have a couple question. In the instructions it shows a "coolant overflow hose" coming out of the top of the crossover. As my truck is a M1028, with a HMMWV crossover I don't see how this will work for me?

    86 M1009 water fording ideas

Forgive my ignorance, but didn't the HMMWV's have TH400's in them? And to best of my knowledge they're set up for deep fording. At least I've seen video's of the Military doing so in training.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Well that was my thoughts. But according to them you have to buy their add-a-leaf kit to add to their existing kit.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Installed a set of "add-a-leaf" springs to my front "(2-1/2")" skyjacker lift kit . When I ordered this kit from Skyjacker almost a year ago, it was listed on their web site as a "Complete kit" for an 84 Chevy K30 with a 6.2 diesel & 454 gas motor. However, apparently you will need to also...

    Re-torquing head bolts?

I'd use this short reprieve time to collect all parts necessary to replace the head gaskets & find a machine shop. Don't be fooled the gaskets are on their way out soon! Mine started slowly, pressurizing the cooling system and pushing coolant out of the overflow bottle. I limped it another...

    rust repair

If you have a Mig welder, floor pans and inner structure like this is a real good place to learn rust repair. You can basically make all the pieces out of 18 gauge sheet metal, tin snips, and a hammer & dolly. just remember, focus on making strong welds, the grinder will make it pretty:beer:

    CUCV Cooling System Upgrade Kit

The problem I'm having is this...M1028 (Banks turbo), (Gearvendors O.D.), (31" tires), (HMMWV crossover), (New 6.5 heads with studs).....At highway speeds 70-75 MPH the temp runs 205°, but can get up to 215°. I'm not sure if this is normal or too hot?:shrugs: The mechanical fan only seems to...
