About once a week my left turn light indicator lights up,voltmeter reads normal, bulbs all good. Bad grounds maybe? I drive about 2 hrs. To Columbus, then 10 miles each day til Friday, then 2 hrs back home.Only seems to happen on the long trips. When it does happen I turn on left blinker for a...
That pan only holds 1qt.3oz more than our factory HD 400 pans, but 3 qts.8oz more if using standard th400 pan.It doesn't hang much lower than a HD th400 pan.The nice thing is it has drain plug and temp.sensor bung.175 to 225 degrees would be good.
I'm currently working in Columbus,Oh.I spotted a 1009 on Alum Creek drive on Monday. It was flat black and greys In camo.Looked nice.Wondered if a member here?
My next upgrade will be a 14 bolt 8 lug rear from a 73-87 3/4 ton and matching front axle. The full floating rears are more desirable.I found a pair with 373s for 500 bucks, then a700r4 trans.
The gasser hotrodderss love those old gm diesel cars,we can rob the hydro boost brake systems off them and have good power brakes without worrying about vacuum output!
Just an update on the Kim hots tart tank style heater,it has not been cold enough lately to use it lately but when it was cold enough it heated up the block up to 120 degrees and started like it wasJuly.
Changed oil and filter,Rotella T6 and Napa 1794 filter, also changed thermostat since the one from advanced auto started opening at 160 instead of 195,it did work OK for one week, picked up an all brass one from autoz one today, hope it works better longer.I no longer have home Internet since I am...
You really have a lot of patience with your friends truck, and that's what it takes with these old cucvs,I give you a lot of credit.I remember my first 1009 having a runaway starter and frying my wiring harness 3 days after my mom passed away,I didn't look at it for 6 months. But then I got back...
On both my 1009s the IP feed line is 1/4" rubber line.It takes small hands and arms to replace without removing intake, but not impossible.I would do a spin-on fuel filter and add a fuel pressure gauge also.It just makes sense. Now that you have GP situation taken care of you can move on to the...
Also double check all your Batt. connections and cables.I also might think about a solargizer install,I put one on my 86 1009 recently and it seems to help. But mine rarely sets for more than a few days at a time. Not saying a solargizer would solve your problem, but I have read they really help...
Installed hose insulation on newly installed tank style block heater tonight, its a TPS-151GT10-000.Hopefully it gets cold enough soon to try it out. I want to let it cycle hot to cold a few more times to make sure all air bubbles are out.For the 5/8 hose I used 3/4 pipe foam insulation.
Odometers pretty much means nothing on our trucks, the speedo is always off so the the mileage is off too.I would rather see compression test results and oil pressure readings.
