What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

To I_Publius, (Not gonna quote the pics again) Looks like I was correct seeing that it had A/C and was converted over to 12v as the A/C compressor is where the alternator should be. I can see you are pretty mechanical, so that will come in handy with getting that all fixed up. Just make sure...

LSSV: 2005 Chevy Crew Cab, Fl to VA and back.

Glad to see it is going to a good home and a pro with the LSSV trucks. I was watching that one and hoped it woudl go to a SS member. It will take allot of work, but I recall seeing a LSSV go for like 20K on GL that was drivable with only a few issues. So there is allot of play room on that rig.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Fixed my M1031 generator today with the modern controller that b4thundr has been selling here. It takes the place of all those components next to the electric panel with one simple controller only using 6 wires. All the other parts were fine, throttle actuator and magneto PTO sensor. It is very...

    Diy Winch Install

Exactly as I suspected, but never posted before today that it has to be something with your install to cause the problem with the HF winch. I have two 12K winches on two different CUCVs and both have never had any issues with pulled other trucks or tree stumps. I also had the older model 10K...

North Texas: M1009 - Not running - transport from Jacksboro to Collin County?

I can vouch for 86m1028 that he has the right gear to tow it. The price is fair and after renting a trailer and fuel you probably would only save about $100 if that. Him pulling a M1008 winter last year

North Texas: M1009 - Not running - transport from Jacksboro to Collin County?

I do not think I can post any links as it is an active auction site and do not want to violate any rules. It is just one of the local auction companies the in the Metroplex, I will send you a PM with the info.

North Texas: M1009 - Not running - transport from Jacksboro to Collin County?

Unrelated, but kind of for the OP..... I just looked at the pictures again on that M1009. It has been converted to 12v and has A/C in it. I can see a A/C compressor on the driver side where the 12v side alternator should be and inside extra vents where they should not be any. The fuel filter is...

North Texas: M1009 - Not running - transport from Jacksboro to Collin County?

So you bought that M1009, nice. It was a little rough, but nothing some TLC cannot fix. I was thinking about getting the M1008 pickup, but really did not want another project right now during the summer. If was not working I could help, but since I am I cannot. There are members here locally...

    fuse box has no power

Good to hear your figured it out. The brake like is likely the switch is bad or out of position to the brake pedal. Myself and others will highly suggest you do not use fuses from Harbor Freight, or any cheap Chinese fuses. Spend the money and get quality ones from your auto parts store. Those...

The final job for the wrecker

They actually have a show on TV about shipping stuff? WOW, what is next watching paint dry wars? LOL

Just got my M1009, what a beast! Lots to learn!!

I highly suggest taking care of maintenance items first, that is more important. When ever I get these or any older square body Chevy that is the first on my list. It can look like a brand new truck, but if it does not run and/or drive it is not very useful. So take care of all the mechanical first.

2012 Sierra rear bench seat in 1028?

I have thought about these seats as well and wondered the same as you. I do not know if it would work, but if the seat mounts are close enough it should. The sliding track is on the rail mounts, not the seat. So if it can be fabricated to work with some additional plates being welded on it...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Hooked up the snorkel to be functional today, but I need to seal it up better to make it more water tight. I do not have any plans to ever do any high water crossings, but still needs to be sealed well just in case. Except for the OE tube everything else was bought at Lowe's. The 4" to 3" rubber...

    M1009 Tailgate crank

Interesting.... I have never seen a part not being available for our trucks before at LMC, bad enough they are chrome, but if they cannot be bought anymore that is even worse. Taken from LMC trying to order the part just a few minutes ago.

    Broken seatbelt bolts

Where did your truck come from, Texas or a state in the salt belt? I have never had an issue with these bolts on about a dozen 70/80s square body trucks coming from Texas and one from Colorado. I will soak them down the day before with PB Blaster. If I notice that it is not going easy after it...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Thanks. I installed the snorkel this morning and it was not too difficult, but worked out well for something this is not designed for the square body. It is a Totoya FJ 80 snorkel kit I got on eBay for about $150 shipped and is an exact clone of the Safari one, probably from the same Chinese...
