Just got my M1009, what a beast! Lots to learn!!

NEVER EVER flush your transmission on old used vehicle, only drain the fluid and change the filter. Due to age of it being like 25 years old all those small partials are like seals inside the trans and if you flush it your trans will likely die soon after.

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

I do not think I have enough money anymore to buy that DVD even if it was in the bargain bin. I priced out all my expenses on this build and it was about $5200. I broke it down and just the mechanical repairs alone were $675 to fix everything that was wrong with it. But I am fussy and did...

    doghead relay failure

What does the doghead rely mod have to do with the Glow Plug system? I read no mention of the starter being the issue. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?60960-doghead-starter-relay-modifcation Also your $10 relay is it an isolated ground, doubtful for that price. You likely have a...

Thanks for the advise, I was going to replace the fan clutch as well but figured the more air flow the better. The shroud is all there and when I watched the mechanical fan spin at idle it was slightly wobbly, so that is why I am going to also replace it.

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Weekend #7 (June 15/16) I had the A/C charged last Tuesday and was working fine, however the truck started to get too hot with the A/C on; especially at idle. So I talked to my mechanic and he advised me to make sure the radiator and condenser is clear of any dirt and junk. So I first used...

You really need to edit and change the font size and colour, I can barely read it and I am not colour blind.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

How did you prep it, did you sand & clean the truck down first? With the Suburbans that I have built I will sand them down with 120 to get most of the clear coat and any chemicals off before I paint. You also do not want to paint over metal and use use primer if so. With how Behr goes on there...

I saw your main post on your rear axle Warthog and thank you for the advise. I will always check my axles to know what they look like and will probably do that tomorrow. I know it has been serviced at one time since there is orange silicone around it like yours had. So I will for sure be...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Yes agreed, it looks worse since the chrome is faded and yellowed out. I did have a set of black trim from the junk yard, but I had the windshield guy use it for that, so I need another set.

Kind of early for this picture, but........ EDIT: added a few more pictures that show it more complete with the 12K winch.

Taking a break from spray painting the Burb, but here is the progress so far. Since it is easy to touch up paint I decided to not fix the dents at this time, you can see the tailgate and driver door are the major dents. I had already painted the grille area with a foam brush because I did not...

Best way to make custom ram air/ cold air?

Add a snorkel, use a Toyota FJ 80 as it is the best closest fit on the passenger side. You can also move the air away from the engine as much as possible. I will use the stock tube on the civi 6.2L or one from LMC lke the picture below. You need a PVC 4" to 3" rubber adapter to fit onto the...

As I have to fill/patch holes in the roof from the OEM roof rack I placed the Wilderness roof rack on the roof (WOW, lots of roof). I may have to get a slide rail from Wilderness and different mounts to mount it, but I think it will look good when done. So here are a few pictures of that and I...

True, and I ordered the FJ80 snorkel kit and will be here on Friday. I doubt I will ever venture into water that deep, but I like the look of them and with that CK5 thread I found them for about $140 shipped. I will make an attempt to install it this weekend and also set the Wilderness roof...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Looks good JSF01, you may just get a few spots that bubble as that is what happened to me once. Since it is Behr you can just patch it and will be OK. I had the same issue having extra time and it rained the next day, but you have to take advantage of any available free time. Side note, it is...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Did you paint this with Behr? If so you are likely to have issues if it rains with paint bubbling, this is why I have had to wait 2 week now to start painting my Burb. As long as there is a chance of rain within a week, I will not start to do any major painting. I have done some on the bumper...
