Well it was a cool evening so I decided to start on the rear bumper to get a jump on this weekend. After thinking about it and the complex process to keep the receiver hitch with adding the step bumper, I decided to just go with the Blazer/Suburban bumper. As cool as the step bumper is, I think...
Weekend #3 (May 18/19)
Saturday was spent at the 4 Wheel Parts Truck & Jeep Fest in Dallas to hopefully find some parts for the build and I was lucky to get some good stuff. Two Pro Comp Rock Crawler wheels & two Mickey Thompson 285/75R-16 Baja ATZ tires. This is in planning to put a 4" lift on...
This is a Military site for the military CUCV 6.2L diesel trucks, you have a civilian vehicle and the Glow Plug system is not the same. The CUCV GP system is a completely different design, but similar in operation. You have the older pre-85 crappy system that fails all the time that was in the...
Search "diesel hammering" or "diesel clatter" on YouTube. You likely have a bad injector if it does not go away and probably the Lucas did clear something out that is either good or bad.
Sorry to nitpick, but you really need to rotate your pictures before you post them, or take them correctly with your camera. There are many freeware programs that will rotate images, especially on the iPhone & Android phones. It is very difficult to see them when they are sideways or upside...
Like the wheels & tires, I have Pro Comp D-Ring wheels on my M1009. Looks like you also have 8-lug wheels, so pickup CUCV axle swap?
Do not like the orange valve covers & pulleys, they should be black for be OEM.
Spay the bottom bolt with JB-80 now so it soaks in overnight, also the top one. That bottom bolt can seize up over time from corrosion and break off when trying to remove it.
See my post here, I had a broken bolt on my rear axle cover.

Fixed my "9" bolt rear axle on Thursday evening so I can drive it this weekend to the 4 Wheel Parts Truck and Jeep Fest in Dallas. Yes it is really a 10 bolt rear axle, but one of the bolt ends was sheared off. It was one of the top driver side bolts so the oil at high speeds was spaying out...
Why did you not just go to a local auto parts store for your fuel line? Or if you search you will see you can use 5/32 Tygon fuel lines that is available at any hobby shop.
I do not think the length is important, but it should be long enough to where it is able to flow freely. I replace all my...
Did you buy this from that seller in California that paint bombs the entire inside, outside, underside and engine bay?
EDIT: Reread the post, he Rhino lined the inside of his truck. I first read it as the alternator had Rhino lining inside it.
Sanger Texas, nice score. I saw that when I was getting my Suburban. I just had no place to store it as I was going to buy it for parts. Dang, I wanted that rig. BTW it is a 1984 as there is no 1983 CUCV model year.
Your welcome, I been meaning to post this before but I did not have any pictures of it in use. I did not feel like taking off my winch on one of my trucks to take a picture, but now with this build I was able to. This is why I wanted to get the front shackles on so quickly so I can work under...
Took my M1009 on a 180 mile total road trip to get a Safari roof rack for my Suburban CUCV clone and had to do a road side repair. When I go to my destination I noticed that my rear axle was leaking and spayed all over the tail gate, so I had to fill it with about a quart of oil. Really sucks...
Weekend #2 (May 11/12) over and spent most of it working on the Suburban.
Replaced the fuel pump with electric, that was a PITA to access since the lines are inside the frame. Trashed a shirt as it was soaked in diesel fuel, but it was a work shirt anyways. That took about 4 hours to complete...
