Awesome. Another success story!!!!! Congrats. I remember when you brought it home and had some concerns about not having a pump and possibly not having the shims. I'm very glad to see that you got it running.
Can't say for sure whether or not it is keyed....but if you want to fix it you're gonna find out when you pull the engine and open up the oil pan. That's the only way to get to the pump and parts you are interested in.
There is a pressure regulator spring and ball in the "back" of the engine...
Ditto to what Barrman said. Both of the grounding tabs on my front sockets were cracked. They were still in place but cracked, causing a high resistance ground situation. The flashers would work just fine until you turned on the parking lights. With the other lights on, the path of least...
Pull the pump back off and inspect the cam and lobe VERY closely. Something is amiss. Even with the wrong button you shouldn't need to go that far to get the fuel to stop. Are you positive the cam isn't broken and slightly spinning? If they look good, next I would have to question the pump...
Spray and crank...ask HDexpert what happens when you get a cylinder full of ether and THEN crank it over...broken pistons and rings and major repairs. If you give it a squirt of ether and then crank it over you run the chance of all of the ether getting sucked into just one cylinder. If the...
The secondary sides of the CVT is exactly where I thought you might find issues. I would say that needs replaced because once you let go of the start switch the AC voltage from the CVT is rectified through the bridge board, and is controlled with the VR to keep the field excited.
The linear...
I doubt that the flywheel and blower wheel are out of alignment. USUALLY the flywheel will have one hole that is just a little off of the bolt pattern so you can only get it on one way (This is to keep timing marks in the proper locations). And the blower wheel is Keyed to the shaft so it can...
Yes, starting fluid is just ether.
Some people have success with a gasoline soaked rag NEAR the intake so the gas fumes are pulled into the intake, or WD40 rather than ether.
But, in reality the ether is not bad for the engine...IF used correctly.
DO NOT spray ether into an engine with Glow...
I would think that you would also want to re-use your old torque converter? The converter stall speed from a th400 on a 350 gas engine would be different than the 6.2 diesel.
Like Keith said, you've got some bad diodes as well.
You could possibly have a bad CT/CVT assembly as well, go through the TM and check the resistance readings against the specs in the TM. I think you might find some really funky readings.
That is exactly why I said it wasn't urgent. I know you are SUPER BUSY with the upgrade and the little annoyances that come along with it. I just wanted to let you know in case it had slipped through the cracks. Keep up the good work and Thank you.
Since this is not an urgent issue at all, I posted the problem in the upgrade thread. I'm sure Drew will put it on the list and get it fixed after the more pressing issues are taken care of.
I'll look into the TM's a little deeper when I get some time later tonight at work. For the time being, are you sure that the resistor is the only bad thing on the bridge board. Maybe you have a shorted diode as well.
Drew, it's not urgent or anything , but when you get time. The link for the MEP WIKI article listed at the top of the Aux Equipment forum gives you the 404 error. So far the only way to access the WIKI is through the link in Luckydog's signature.
This is for Luckydog and some of the other contributors/authors to the MEP-002a and 003a WIKI.
With the recent site upgrade, Drew has had to port the WIKI articles over as threads. I have a sinking feeling that with the site settings about editing threads that the mods will be the only ones...
You're pretty new around the site, so you should know up front that we don't tolerate Zombie/end of world/prepper threads very well. And I'm not trying to say that is what you had in mind with the thread at all. Just putting the warning out there for you and everybody else.
On to your...
I've tried to stay out of this thread because most of the stuff is beyond my realm of knowledge. HOWEVER. I for one am not opposed to computer/site upgrades, they are a fact of life any more, and in my line of work I see it all too often, so I guess I'm used to it.
For what I wanted to say...
There is your problem...you are getting WAY too much voltage from the DC regulator. It is bad!! Replace or remove that and see if your problem doesn't go away
