Anyone know if it's a big deal to remove the t case pto ?
I got a deuce with one and was thinking about taking it off before I sell the truck since they are probably rare. I have not been able to find the plate that covers the hole. Think I could make something ?
Check the vent on the axles that are leaking and try to keep levels just below the bowl, not to the fill plug.
front axle seals can be a bitch. Most likely age but could indicate a worn spindle bushing so check that when you do the seals.
i would not drive the truck with a rear axle seal leak...
I worked on a truck recently with a remote res kit. I did not install it but I noticed it took a very long time to drain in the master and seemed to be getting air locked. Then I loosened the line at the master cap and fluid came out no prob.
i would question how the air in the master works it's...
Picked up an M49 tanker. Debating whether to fix it up and keep a tanker or find a bed or just cut it up.
Do the tankers have any decent resale value ? Or should I just put a cargo bed on and scrap the tank ?
I tried every spoon and screwdriver I had and nothing would fit and be able to move the wheel. Air can in the way. I even took the dust cover off.
finally pulled the wheel.
Hmmmm...just thinking aloud but since it's a 12v truck now, I could easily can the in tank lift pump and put a Fass system on and lose the canister fuel filters as well....
Picked up a runner from the auctions. Somewhere along the line they half ass converted it to 12v
seems to have 12v starter and alt and possibly the light bulbs as well..
that all good but the heater motor is original 24v and I suspect the lift pump is as well. I can hear it running. Truck runs...
why ?
250 is a way better motor IMHO.
ether is never a good thing for any diesel. I would go 4 strong batteries and a block heater as my first line of defense. Ether, last resort. I plug mine in and throw a jet heater under it for a few minutes on the rare occasions I drive it in the winter.
as...
Was A great show...somehow I spent 1200$ on stuff I didn't know I needed...lol
we left sat morning and went to the diesel nationals in englishtown which were awesome as well. Btw RV was no problem on the Garden State.
the Redball folks were great and it was a nice location. My only gripe/hope is...
Also how high is the oil leve in the pumpkin ? These trucks should not be filled to the full plug. They should be kept just below the bowl since the wheel bearings are packed with grease.
What seals did you use ?
unfortunatly my experience with these trucks is that either you use Nationals which seem to fail faster or roll the dice on Mil surplus seals which half the time are junk too.
I hate to say this but it was probably just a bad seal or you rolled it putting the axle shaft...
Ok, ran into a problem doing an axle shaft seal on my 923.
pulled it apart. Between the axle shaft and the axle tube seal I found 2 washers(TM 9-2320-272-34p1, pg172 ,fig 172, ref 34 ,nsn 5310-00-03306007)
one of them fits nicely in the bore between the axle and the seal but the other doesn't...
