I have one of these mounted to a plate that slides into my recieiver hitch. I installed a electric winch with hand remote to operate. I get my power from a nato plug mounted on rear bumper.
We had a re-power program in the mid eighties and swapped out a bunch of these trucks both deuce & five tons to the multi-fuel engines. Are you sure you have fuel at the pump. Did you check the fuel shut off,
Word of caution, I like the black RTV and have the pema-tex ultra black hi- temp is best for me. When using make sure you don't put it your threaded holes . It will only compress so far causing you to overtighten and strip bolts.
If you want steel wheels check Summit Racing. They carry u.s. truck wheels I run these on
three trucks . They are the series 70 and are a ugly white different widths and backspacing
you choose. I am running both sets they offer.
Have you done a pressure check on the engine. Have you performed a compression check.
These are just a couple of steps that need to be done before you start taking things apart.
Building a tow rig . I haul a lot of Suburbans and they are heavy and long. As far as power upgrades my 6.2 is fine but I do have a 6.5 and 4L80E trans when the time comes to change out.
