No crank starter, only loud clack this may be your fix

Are you shimming both bikts, or the inside bolt only? My issue has been starter too far away, where I have shimmed only the outboard boly only to move it closer. My most current starter issue is it spitting its nose cone bushing out. Luckily the trans prevents it from falling all the way out...

    New member, new M1008

Factory GM 16.5s from an 80s truck. My spare wheel is actually a Ford wheel. At that time the bolt pattern was the same. My main goal was to keep the weight down. I ditched the 2 piece wheels and the run flat insert to reduce rotating mass.

    Correct puller for damper

I also used a rental puller from Advanced. Very nice tool kit (~$100 iirc). It was extremely helpful for installation of the new part as well with its thrust bearing.

    Changed my diff covers

My factory covers still perform flawlessly. Maybe these covers will last longer in heavy off road/rock crawling applications.

Help please idiot lights all out

Several of my bulbs (>1/2) were blown and had to be replaced. There is a thread by the name of instrument cluster decoded iirc that was very helpful. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?t=46054

    Teaching your mechanic

I took mine off last summer. I would say it took about 3 hours. I was being pretty careful and taking my time. Wasn't bad at all. All the steps are here and in the TMs. I mailed mine to Accurate Diesel for rebuild. Great work, and a decent price. I would try to verify the mechanics diagnosis...

    What oil to use?

I picked up my last batch of Rotella from Rural King in Greensburg, IN. It was quite a bit cheaper there vs here in Alabama. It was $9 something a gallon when I picked these up. Sadly, this was all they had in stock. http://www.ruralking.com/oil-rotella-t-15w40-gal.html

    flywheel ?

Keep in mind the 6.2 is externally balanced. Reducing its weight may not be a good thing. You would have to take the weight of the harmonic balancer into account as well to maintain engine balance. Are you looking for more power?

    GlGrouow Plugs

I would recommend using AC Delco 60G glow plugs. Be sure to complete the Resisitor Bypass to prevent the cascade failure of glow plugs. There is a really good step by step trouble shooting section in the TMs that would be worth going through. You don't want to keep burning up new plugs when...
