    flywheel ?

I am not sure the 454 will fit the 6.2. Based on what I have read the tooth count and angle will be key to compare. I found this on another forum: GM used a 12-14 tooth pitch for the flexplate / flywheel ring gear, and starter drive on MOST applications. (SBC, BBC, 6'es, ETC) HOWEVER, the 6.2...

running poorly, lack of power, black smoke, at higher rpm. sluggish

Was it running poorly before? A timing adjustment would only help if it was no good before. I had no trouble with mine when I had it rebuilt. I would be careful with the hammer and chisel! Turning the fuel up will increase the power. If your IP is in good health that may be worth looking into...

    TH400 Trans bellhousing bolts

The top passenger side bolt was the most difficult for me to get to. I had 1 in bad shape I replaced by going to AutoZone.

    Rear Differential Magnet

Mine looked the same, along with the Trans pan magnet. The Engine plug magnet has always been clean.

    fuel filter housing heater question

The filter media is much more restrictive than the cross section of the fuel line. Example: a filter is a collection of say 10 micron holes, far smaller than inside diameter of the fuel line. Any increase in viscosity as a result of colder temperatures should become a problem at the filter...

Where does the purple wire go exactly?

I rotate my flexplate with a socket and 3/4" ratchet on the harmonic balancer bolt. You may want to confirm the rear main seal, and replace if needed while doing the flexplate.

Injector pump - pump head replacement?

I would remove it myself and have it rebuilt. I used www.accuratediesel.com

    flywheel ?

When I replaced mine I got it for <$30 through Saturn. If you find cracks this could be a good option to save money.

    flywheel ?

I would pull the Trans inspection cover and have a look. Rotate the engine over at the Harmonic Balancer to view all of the Flexplate / Flywheel. I use a 3/4 socket and Ratchet. While clear of the flexplate start your truck and watch the runout, or front to rear movement of the flexplate. This...

Where does the purple wire go exactly?

I would get an assistant to attempt to crank while I use my multimeter at the starter solenoid and measure the voltage, if there is any.

    Fuel filter electrical connections

There's a pressure sensor for STE ICE diagnostics. Save your time, toss that in the trash and replace it with a canister type filter and spin on filter base. Several good setups documented here on SS. Here's one: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?t=36435

    Civy heads

If the injeciton pump has never been rebuilt it may need it. As far as an adjustment for the new Civy heads I do not know of any. Im assuming you used J Code heads? They are different. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/75563-6-2-j-code-heads-same-c-code.html

    STE ICE and Circuit board.

Can you post a picture of the wiring that you see? It's difficult to visualize and determine if it will work or not.

    Direct vs. Gear Reduction Starter

My Rebuilt 27MT Direct Drive Starter spins MUCH faster than it did prior to the rebuild. The advantages of the 28MT are many. However, I find the 27 more than adequate when in good condition powered by healthy batteries. I run 2 Group 31 Interstate batteries.

    M1008 Brakes Part Numbers

Some employees at the parts stores are just worthless. I have had the best luck just calling my truck a "1984 K30". Never mentioning the terms that totally confuse them like: CUCV, M1008, military truck, actual vin etc. The last batch of parts I ordered were free shipping from Autozone. I was...

Just had the tires changed, maybe missing lug nuts or broken studs?

    M1008 towing

For the use you have described I would plan on upgrading the M1008 (trans cooler, gearing, etc) or go with a newer truck. Based on my experiance where my truck does the best is offroad payload capability. Pulling a trailer, due to the HP, is where it will have more trouble. Can it do it, yes...
