you were able to install that without hacking up the rear tie downs ? I had to remove mine and hack up the bumper mounts.

Found metal chips in oil, still runs great

That looked brass to me too but internet pics can be deceiving. It takes about 5 mins to pull the oil pan with an air ratchet. Make sure you jack up the drivers side frame and let the axle hang(think it was drivers side..) IIRC the IP gear was steel. I could go look in my garage at the one on my...

    Steering problem. Bad.

Well, it was ORD's springs it seems ,because I pulled the caps and put 1/8 inch washers under them and now the wobble is gone. New springs are apparently weaker than the 28 year old factory ones. Not sure if I got a bad set or what the deal is.

    M1009 rear axle lawsuit

Mostly the gov lock diffs. They blow apart then the c clips fall off. Trust me I had a pile of broken ones behind my ship aside from the two that I lost the wheels on. It is an inherently dangerous and stupid design. Ford had it much better on the half tons using a retainer plate at the axle...

    M1009 rear axle lawsuit

Those gm 1/2 axles always were and always will be junk. I have had the whole wheel axle still attached come off two of mine back in the 90's. Junk. Whenever I buy a Blazer or half ton pu first thing I do is thrownthose axles in the scrap pile where they belong and swap in a set of 3/4 ton full...

    Steering problem. Bad.

Yep frame is good. I am thinking the ORD bushing kit has lousy springs.

    Steering problem. Bad.

they looked the same height. I may try the washer trick tomorrow. edit: upon adding washers I compared and the new ones looked slightly smaller. Was hard to tell without cleaning the grease completely off though.

    Steering problem. Bad.

Well now I got Death wobble which I did not before...Ughhh...I know there is a million threads about death wobble in D60's but my problem has started after I did the bushings and springs. The truck had no previous issues with death wobble. I got the king pin bushings and springs from ORD...

    Snorkel idea

I have driven my CUCV through about 3 ft of muddy water BUT my truck is lifted, All the vent hoses are ran up into the engine bay and just below the hood. I also have a standard shift with a ceramic clutch and I sealed the bellhousing as best I could with snot. I also have mudflaps all over the...

    Steering problem. Bad.

Oh, if you burn a u joint out with the torch keep your face back and use PPE. The grease will cause a pretty nasty flash.

    Steering problem. Bad.

Well the axle joint was so frozen I stood on it and it did not flex. I had to cut it apart with the torch. The rotors were wasted too from the friggin road salt they use up here that is destroying everything. I also did the King pin bushings and springs. A spindle puller is a nice thing to have...

    Steering problem. Bad.

Well, It's been awhile since I posted in this but round two...Passenger side. Exactly what you said above but this time the steering was binding so bad I could not drive the truck. I'll try and post some pics tomorrow but basically the truck felt like it lost power steering and driving down the...

I think that is my problem. I gotta find a dealer who carries them.

    M35a2 Parking brake rebuild

Well, got up on the highway tonight with it and can hear a banging/clanking noise randomly over 35 mph. Sound like about where the Parking brake is. I noticed the adjustment had worked itself loose and also if I pulled up on the handle a little the noise as far as I could tell went away. Anyone...
