Believe me I am weighing it. It is a tough call. I have done it with Macks over the years with no issue but I have no real history on the motor other than I know it was overrevved and loaded with ether so yeah, it's on my mind that I could be chasing more issues later on the other hand I'm here...
I did liners on an old Detroit years ago(about 28yrs ago) and I remember they were a bitch. I had to stick a bolt in the port and push them up with the piston which you can't do on these.
Wow, interesting read. The pics of the liners were good. The welding part...well..Cast it best done pre heated and you probably didn't stand much of a chance doing it with a Tombstone anyway(I am assuming you used a Lincoln Tombstone). Those things are good for welding rakes and shovels, that's...
Ok, all tests indicate that #5 cyl is dead but all the others are fine. I also have a coolant leak where the intake meets the head ?? It seems the intake manifold has coolant running through it ? Are the intake manifold bolts wet ? You can see in the vid it's bubbling out but I am not burning...
I have been looking high and low..."IF" I can get away with 1 cyl and a gasket set, I'm looking at 400$ plus now the motor has new HG's etc.
I have to confirm all it needs is one jug and everything else is ok..
Where ? Everything I have seen is 1200$+
I was looking at the bellhousing to tranny. Looks like some sort of adapter plate to mate the bellhousing to Tranny ? Is the tranny SAE ? Can I bolt a 5.9 6bt to this tranny ?
Funny google searches better than the site search. I think I got what I need. Hopefully that is all that is wrong with it...

Ok, # 6 was 200 psi. I pulled the valve cover and the valve adjusters came loose on cyls 5 and 6. The push rod came completely out on 4. Can anybody please post the link to which TM covers valve adj ? This thing may live...
The plot thickens. Compression test on cyl#4 400psig. Cyl #5...Zip, nada, nothing. I think I found my problem but what ???
I'm gonna do #6 anyway. I wonder if it dropped a valve ?? As long as the crank and block are good I can drop a slug in it.
BTW Snap makes a compression tester adapter for...
700's are weak, especially the earlier generations. If I was **** bent on an auto with OD I think I'd spend the money for a 4l80 and a controller but me personally, Did an NV4500 swap and never looked back. It was bolt in, super reliable, andfun to drive. It really is the way these trucks should...
