thanks for the kind words atankersdad. I don't have any, nor have I had to purchase any. But I do know that some gaskets and parts are still available through Onan/Cummins.
There are NOT MANY parts that you can still get though....if you could find an Onan dealer in your area maybe they could...
Just to err on the side of caution, I dug the drain tile coil out from under the ice and snow today and put it in the garage to start thawing out and melting off. If I don't need to bring it, it's not hurting anything being there. If I need to bring it, that at least it will be usable.
Sounds...
I think people got confused as to what m16ty and I were talking about, especially when we were talking about a vessel rated for 120 PSI. We are talking about a canister plumbed into the pressurized discharge line of the air compressor.
The alcohol evaporator kits work like others had...
I have nothing really to add to this thread, but these last two posts make me want to stir the pot a little.
emr says to most definitely drain the tanks of all air and thus water...
Jake says that just draining the water is enough...
On a deuce with it's dual 5 gallon tanks it's a simple...
did you use a low pressure check valve on the "bottom" fitting to keep the air from pushing the alcohol back into the compressor intake, or don't you think it's necessary.
Thanks for the input and I'm sorry for running this thread off course.
cbvet,
the resistor is just a 5 Ohm, 50 watt resistor...I used a 100 watt resistor on mine just for the extra heat dissipation so it should never burn up. We just talked about this a month or two ago in a thread...here is a link to one of my posts. It has direct links to Newark Electronics'...
I told ya on the phone gimp, if you need it I have a roll of that corrogated 4" drain tile I can bring for exhaust hose.
My heaters run on diesel/kero also, I think transformer oil will be to thick for them. I don't know how big Eric's heater is but my two alone are 310,000 btu's, so we should...
where are the pics of the finished project???
I gotta say, with the weather you guys were dealing with, I'm surprised it got done at all....I would have waited till spring.
Now that's an idea I like...clean and simple
What kind of tank did you use if you don't mind me asking. It would be nice to have something small enough to fit along the frame rail in the engine compartment
Looks like another small road trip for me :-P
Now that I know some of the schedule, I guess I'll show up on Friday Morning sometime to help with the pull and swap....this is gonna be a fun weekend. Lots of good company, wrenching on fun trucks and maybe a beer or 3 or 4 for good measure.
I've never done it, but when singling out the rears, you just use the budd caps and not the nuts.
If I happen to be wrong, someone please chime in here...but I'm pretty sure that this is the right way....some will say to flip the hubs too, but if you're running 900's still, I think that is just...
no, they are not wire in series...they are 24 volt glow plugs. The intake manifold heaters are 12 volt heaters wired in series...these may be what you had heard was the same as the civilian Onan engines
Which plug did you pull?? The one in the bell housing is the fording plug and should NOT be installed unless you are fording water. That plug should be in it's storage location until needed. The inspection cover on the bottom of the transmission bell housing is the rectangular plate with 6...
Hey, that's still a good 2 hour run...and the great feeling of knowing you have power during those times when you REALLY don't want to be without it....a house can get cold FAST when the power is out!!
