Back to the subject matter of this thread - You think 11.00/20 NDT on a M1028 would work?

Kinda got carried away..... M1028 rebuild

I had already removed the shocks and rear brake proportion lever, so the next thing to remove were the u-bolts and spring packs. But before I did this I used a straight level across the frame and measured the distance from the top of the rear axle to the top of the frame as a reference point...

Kinda got carried away..... M1028 rebuild

Well folks, after a couple months of inactivity due to my busy work schedule, I am now ready to finish up and get the truck back on the road. It was exactly one year ago in June 2010 when I pulled the M1028 into my shop for a simple hood replacement. What followed was a complete loss of self...

    LMC Headlights question?

If you really, really, really want to light up the world in front of your truck, you may want to consider the E-code Hella which will illuminate 5500 feet on high beam. Although not DOT approved in the U.S., these things are baby laser beams. The standard H4 bulbs on low beam will let you...

    CUCV mileage question

My 1984 M1028 came from a NG base in AZ and had only 12,338 miles when I purchased it. It was pretty obvious the milage was accurate, as the engine compartment looked new and the plating on the brake reservoir cover and PCV valve was still shiney. The day I took possession I handed it off to...

    Rear Disc Brakes

I am currently in the process of lifting my M1028 5" and am improvising an adjustable linkage for the prportioning valve. I will post photos when I get this done.

    CUCV tires

Well Mr. Westech, respectfully I beg to differ. In 1985 I purchased a new 1-ton single-rear-wheel K-30 GMC to elk hunt in Colorado & Wyoming. After the first hunting trip, I realized I didn't have enough ground clearance, so I installed a 4" lift kit. On the second trip the next year, I...

    Vent window lock disassembly reasembly

After you drive the pin out you have to work the mechanism to get it to free from the glass. Keep working with it, it will come.

    Vent Windows

The NOS vent assemblies do not include the locks. I purchased rebuild kits from LMC which came wih new chrome levers but I used the original black levers. Works perfectly. Mike Gresham

    Vent Windows

The part numbers for the complete vent assemblies are 15634471 for the drivers side and 15634472 for the passeners side. I got both NOS from GMpartsgiant.com. About $300 apiece. The NOS vent assemblies make it feel like a brand new truck. Of all the money I have spent on my...

    Locking fuel cap for M-1010

Been full circle trying to put a locking fuel cap on my M1028. It just is not available because the military filler neck is larger to accept a tanker hose. Tried everything, it just isn't available. I'm considering installing a lock on the fuel door. Thought about a simple cabinet-type...

    4" Lift for my M1028

I'm using ORD's HD 4" with zero-rates up front and shackle-flip with zero-rates in rear. Finished the front today. Everything worked perfect. Not planning to use cross-over steering, so I used OED's drop down pitman and a 2-1/2" steering block. The drag link is perfectly level. I also used...

    Deuce tires on the CUCV???

Here you go. Finishing up my M1028 rebuild now. Built the wheels back in 1985 and run them for 10 years on a K30 civi with 4" lift. More photos later after I can get it out of the shop.

Making the most of a stock 6.2

I have been running 6.2's in my trucks since GM first offered them in the '80's. Spent a lot of cash on Bank's turbos, wish I had that back. I have found the best way to wake up the 6.2 is to open it up and let it breathe. Port and polish the heads and intake, and install a set of tuned...

    20 inch wheels

I won a nice M101A3 and am headed to Ft. Meade next week to get it. I plan to build 2 more of the 20" Firestone split rims for the trailer, and will run the same 11.00/20NDT in order to get it up to the same level as the truck. The M101A3 has the HUMMWV wheels so the bolt pattern is the same...
