Found out from someone on Smokestack forum that the 120/240 is off a 3 phase parallel delta, but taken off as 2 1 phase 120/neutral legs. The configuration is one of the ones in the Lima Mac manual, so I know it is good to go with 1031 12 kw alternator. Now I just need to figure out how I want...
I would not break it off on purpose. If you pull and twist, with the thread, they will almost always come out, it may take a half hour and it is not fun.
If you do break it off, take out the injector like Warthog said, and remove from pre ignition chamber with magnetic pickup wand or...
That is a nice 1031. Most of your problems can be solved with wire harness that can come from any CUCV. They are not hard to change (or add in your case) if you go step by step. Do you intend to get generator and panel in back going? There are a few guys on this forum that have 1031s that...
I always thought the MB & GPW could be with M38 and M38a1s. They are pretty similar and all were in use together in 1950s and may be even into the 60s.
It turns out the connector plug diagram in the MEP-018a TM is transposed from reality(see picture).
So in 120/240 single phase; L0= T 5,8. L2= 3,7. L3= 3,11. T 1+12, 4+7, 6+9 are paired together. Still wondering what schematic diagram the single phase hook up would correspond to. But now...
Looks like a CJ 3a to me. Mostly the same as a 2a, but the 2a had a split windshield. The 3a was made between 1950 and partly into 1953. It looks more intact and original than most you see.
Have found some time to mess with this. I don't understand my results in testing reconnect switch. In 120/240 mode I am getting the following L2= T1 & T9. L3= T8 & T12. L0= T3 & T6. Am using continuity tester from T inputs to output lug. Even if numbering were off, I think I should have 4...
Do the you have to get a 'vehicle alteration label' by your VIN plate for bobbed Deuces? I know you have to get one if you want to change GVW rating on a regular truck.
Not sure what of the point in trying to determine the original tool set is unless you want to display in collection. I am trying to equip mine in the the most useful and practical way for the work I do. A lot of Gov spec stuff from the 1980s is not that practical. Am keeping the truck mostly...
I see that this is an old thread. There was recently a GSA auction around here that had several vehicles listed this way. Most of them looked to be in good shape. Some desk jockey at GSA or listing agency just filled out the form that way. Was wondering if there was/is a remedy for this, as...
There is nothing wrong with bleeding the injectors if you have run out of fuel in the 6.2. If everything is working, they will eventually self bleed, in my experience. As the original poster said he had starter problems, bleeding the injectors would be a good idea.
The OP's fuel gauge...
The starter grinding is a separate issue, but may make it hard to bleed your system. You say you have pressure to fuel filter. Did you loosen bleed screw at top side of filter base and crank until clear fuel comes out? The 6.2 with a good starter and batteries should be able to bleed itself...
I got an 002 with a stuck switch. I don't think it was switched when on, it just spent 1700 hrs in 3 phase. There are a few old threads about this. You can unstick it if it is not damaged by loosening the plate in front just enough to turn switch. You have to take switch out of housing to do...
The white smoke, milky residue and coolant seepage all point toward bad head gasket. The surging could be IP problems as well, but would rule out head gasket first.
That is true about the Allison AT545. Got to love a tranny with a spin on oil filter. But it probably weighs 3 or 4 times what a TH400 does. Goes back to jeeplvrs247's point. The k-30 frame is not the strongest, even in its weight/type class. At some point you are going to wish you started...
