That's interesting. We did not get resolution on the longer bolt tho. Will poke around some more, no hurry, I am allocating 2 years for the build as I am still working. That "job thing" takes up all my time.
Are there other MV wheels with a different offset, but same bolt pattern as LMTV? And CTIS compatable to the LMTV? The offset would need to be something reasonable so the truck does not result over-wide.
The added length of the 6-cylinder configuration does intrude into the cab, in the examples I have seen on the interweb. Search "CAT 3208 in Chevy Pickup" to start.
So what is most different, aesthetically, before and after?
Enclosing the back,
higher stance w/ the open tire tread pattern,
paint of course,
lotsa lights.
**Update Dec 12, 2018**
I have this same thread in three different places. To make it easier for me to maintain, the continuation will...
Highway speed? Whats that? :)
I have owned an M109A3 and M35A3, and yes, the LMTV rides nicer and has better road manners.
Of course it rides rougher empty than loaded. I will never use it to haul 5000 lbs of anything, so I am OK modifying the suspension or whatever.
I'll check the cab...
One is not picking up a 17,770 lb truck vertically. You just have to have enough oompf to overcome static friction. That's how a "strongman" can pull a semi truck with a rope: he is not lifting the truck. Its true that weight is in the equation of static, then rolling friction. It helps the...
Okeydokey. I'll check all that stuff, thank you. I think its Proverbs 19:20 that says to listen to advice in order to be counted among the wise, I'm good with that :)
Why? I have read the stories of the plastic fan spitting blades--> taking out the radiator. It is not clear to me that there is a design defect, did CAT author a recall for this condition? Maybe the military wrote up a service bulletin? Probably in the threads somewhere, I will read them again...
Swapped the spare for another with the same tread pattern as the ones on the ground, repaired the door handle actuator inside driver door, straightened a bent bumperette with the handy forklift, vehicle emissions test. Removing the comms box mount to make room for the 3rd seat that can go there...
Science made Scary: Nitrogen, a major component of air, is also soluble in oil.
"Laboratory results also indicate that N
2 is more soluble than CO2, 0.34-
% mole-percent of N
2 compared to 0.17-% mole-percent of CO2 when pure components
are used as injected fluids."
