problems with removing front body mount on my M1008

Sounds like the caged nut in the body has broken loose. You have a few options. Not always the best but they work. Heat and holding that nut are the first option. Without being there I don't know the condition of the mounts or the sheet metal. Sounds like they were rusty. Another is locate the...

    GLOW PLUG nightmare !

First thing I would do is remove the glow plugs and bench test them. Next I would check and see if you have current going thru the relay at the brake master cylinder. I think you said no wait light. Maybe check the sensor on the rear of the drivers side head upper side. Make sure the plug is...

    GLOW PLUG nightmare !

First off lets see some pictures of the resistor and relay under the hood. What glow plugs do you have? And are you able to buy a glow plug card from a dealer? I mean a dealer in the US that sells the glow plug cards. If not I will help you get one to Belgium. Let me know. But let me see if you...

    Terminus M1009

I wanted to ring this topic up again on the frame bushings. I had a guy stop by with his M1028 and they were gone on the right side. That explained the rattle he had. If you never changed yours I recommend doing it soon. It will destroy the frame bracket. that can be replaced but it is easier to...

    Weight of M1010 ambulance body

They can't be that rare. I had 7 of them over the years. Only ever sold 1 intact. The rest were electrical nightmares. I have 4 of the M1010 bodies in my back Yard. They need to be rehomed real soon. Next Spring the axe falls. They are leaving one way of another. Cleaning up the yard and making...

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

The same engine that was in it when it left GM in 1983. I have had this sitting in my barn since 1996. 13K miles on it. Actually 12,674. And I believe it to be accurate. It came from Indiantown Gap. 28th Infantry Division.

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

Let us review a few original CUCV factory painted parts. These are the real thing with minor to moderate damage but little to no rust. Gate now the only rust. Right fender That area at the bottom has no rust thru and is minor surface rust. Left fender has moderate damage but CARC paint and...

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

NOTE) 1984 M1009 had the rear busbar power cables run on top of the floor inside. Note the holes were the cables ran. Also it had a bolt on transmission tunnel cover. I may remove that and paint/coat it separately. Just so it is still removable. Have not decided yet. I still have that plastic...

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

OK. That concludes todays progress. The rain has stopped and I must get up on the roof of the barn and begin painting. I used many chemicals to get the adhesive off. It seems paint stripper worked best. I also want to deal with the poor brushed on paint that was applied. I dug out the loose seam...

    Fan switch 1986 CUCV

I didn't read it in a TM. I seen it several times in real time. I grab every switch pigtail I come across. I had it on many snow plow trucks also that are not CUCV but have the same switch. All GM vehicles during that era had the same pigtail and switch some were just reverse set up. You are...

    Fan switch 1986 CUCV

You may have to replace the harness from the switch to the resistor. It is a poor setup and is prone to getting a bad connection over time. Some do and some don't.

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

On this weekend episode of Little Red resurrection I am going to start a complete washdown of the body panels and get an accurate assessment of what the original paint and body condition are. After seeing so many CUCV's completely repainted in every color imaginable I may consider keeping the...

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

I have a date with the Line X shop to get the floor areas and the cargo area sprayed in Black. I am going to have them coat up to the rail in the cargo area, to the seam at the B pillar seat belt area and up to the fire wall under the dash. I will have the doors, roof and tailgate removed so...

    Fan switch 1986 CUCV

Also note the wiring pigtail that runs to the fan switch and resistor under the hood on the heater box has a tendency to have a bad connection and gets hot and melts the switch. It is loose and makes resistance and heat. Make sure the connection is tight and apply some dielectric grease on that...

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

This M1009 was built in 1983. It is an 84 but I think it is an early one. I see that both wing vent windows have chrome handles. I think these are original as I have seen them on a few other 1984 M1009's. Being that I have this in my barn since 1996 I think the mileage is accurate with 12,674...
