May I advise against removing the top cover if you suspect rusted 10/24 bolts. They will snap and then the pump may not even be usable as a core. I had it happen more than once. That electrolysis is bad on the steel to aluminum. That is why I suggested massaging it with oil from the outside. if...
Tom I would still check the lift pump. A far shot but worth a look. The injection pump itself will suck fuel but I would check the lift pump. And if it is a new lift pump it could be an incorrect one. And another thing I just thought of. Is the fuel pump feed line sitting against the frame...
Disconnect all the green wires on the injection pump and see if that helps. I doubt it but try it anyway. Sounds like an internal injection pump problem. I doubt any of the mechanics that are at the GM dealership today even saw a 6.2 diesel. I was broke down once and had to go to a local dealer...
May I also add I have used Fram filters on all my Honda lawn tractors and still have the same 4518 for 30+ years. One time a year I change the oil and filter. the Fram cost about $5. and the Honda cost about $20. It filters oil and it works and time has proven that. This year I came across 3...
More expensive. I am old school. I change oil every 2 K on my CUCV's. Or less on my OFF ROAD CUCV. I have changed the oil after 20 miles of hard OFF ROAD driving. My new truck gets serviced at the GM garage just like my M1009 did. they always use DEXOS oil. https://www.gmdexos.com/
Not that it...
I have a few of them. And the new supply line clamp that holds the 2 hoses. Do you have all the studs, nut and bolts you need? I have a lot of hardware. Enough for a couple lifetimes.
I will get better pictures. They looked better on the camera. Lost photo quality in transition to computer. But both had the same Chinese name on them. Fuyaohttp://fuyaousa.com/ Makes all the glass for vehicle manufacturers.
Today was a very cold day in Central Pennsylvania. I did manage to get a few hours of outside work done. I did attempt to work on my M1009 rear glass project. the glass was delivered today. And before you get all that is made in Chinafied. I bought it from a direct supplier that currently...
Try lubing the linkage and getting in there with an old toothbrush and clean it good. But the linkage does bind on occasion from dirt and lack of lubrication. This M1009 had a few tight linkage spots. Slight cleaning and oiling. Real oil NOT spray lube. Fixed it up and back into the mud.
Cleaned up rust on core support , installed new radiator, and new radiator isolators done. It's a simple task. Plan the work and work the plan. No time for half fast work here. once and DONE. All that while sitting in a folding chair and enjoying the great outdoors.
Another plus to this M1009 is that it has a brand new exhaust system front to back and in 2 1/2" aluminum coated pipe with the factory fish mouth tail pipes. It also has rebuilt alternators, starter and a rebuilt injection pump. I had the transmission over hauled in it before I sold it. it was...
This AM I was over at the farm and looking at a few things I have in the storage building. I have this M1009 that was sold and I bought it back. It was stripped and many of the body parts are gone. That is no big problem. But this is the one I wanted to make a 1973-1975 full convertible out of...
I have probably abused an M1009 in stock form more than anyone else outside of the military. I never had any radiator failures. A few clogged cooling fins from axle deep mud. But nothing a pressure washer couldn't clean out. I have installed no fewer than 25 of the Harrison plastic aluminum and...
I have used them and I prefer them to the metal radiators. I have them that are direct replacements from Harrison GM. They discontinued the copper / brass in GM parts in the early 90's. I have the plastic aluminum in the 87 M1028 and the current build M1009. Easier to fix as told to me by the...
What would be wrong with good used 6.2 CUCV lines? I mean if they are not rusted and torqued when applied they should work just fine. These should be out there readily available. I will throw my hat in the ring to sell you a used set. Or you can go this route. Used would be 1/2 the price and...
For a first truck a CUCV is a good work truck. I can almost guarantee you will be working on it all the time. I gave both my Sons a CUCV when they started driving and I worked on them all the time. Most times it was for fun and at this point 18 years later it is out of necessity. Good Luck. Try...
Check cranking amps in batteries and possibly the starter is checking out. New parts don't mean they are NOT the issue. Glow plugs can go bad in a few days or hours if they are cycled incorrectly. Cranking a cold hard start diesel is hard on everything. Get the issue properly diagnosed and...
