I drive my M1009 at 60 EVERY DAY, it will go faster but I take it easy on her. The rear end in the M1008 is geared so high that 50 is the comfortable max speed, but the M1009 does NOT have that problem. I have heard that 75 is the max on a M1009 but I intend to drive mine for a LOOOOONG time and...
The "donation stream" is where state and local municipalities and fire departments can get vehicles donated to them from the government. The sheets of paper taped to the windshields have the dates that agencies at various levels are eligible to get them. These units appear to be in very good...
Other than the color, and Ms.Tan has no bridge plate, I can't see a difference in the two... Who knows what was in the mind of the two bidders that drove the 383 one up.
I was in an undisclosed DRMO yard yesterday, some of you may recognize it, and I saw several CUCV with semi-gloss paint almost the shade of the Vietnam era trucks. They looke VERY nice and are in the donation que, but I suspect they will get picked up (painted RED) and never make it to GL:(...

I looked on mine and there are five sets of bolts on the rounded edge of the box and two brackets, the bolts would be the correct spacing for the tarp bows and the brackets are for the lights (?) I will go out there this afternoon and photograph them (forgot my camera this morning) AND the...
Loud? You guys must drive Cadillacs. I have put over 2500 miles on my M1009 in the last two months including the 400 mile trip home from OKC, and I use it as my daily driver (but a normal day for me is only about 25 miles). My M1009 is the most comfortable vehicle to drive on long trips that I...
I am a preservationist, but I am also a realist. Some vehicles are just not worth restoring, due to many factors (rust, frame damage, whatever), you can reach the point of diminishing returns pretty quickly. I'm sure the folks at Alpha Heaven know where that point is!
At least they are not...
