Was MKC underway a lot and made CWO and went marine safety route to stay home more. Retire out of MSD Cape Cod. Truck looks like a great project. Good luck underway. Coming home was always the best!
Welcome arggonuts from Cape Cod, MA. I am also retired USCG, retired 2006. Good luck with the new truck and getting it on the road if possible. This site has all the information you will need. Look through all the tech manuals as they answer most repair questions. Give us a few photos as we love...
Friday at the show and Big truck convoy
Here are a couple of photos from today, Friday at Weare, NH. I came in with 11 other big trucks, deuce and a halfs and up organized by the NH club, Granite State Iron Cavalery, run by "General Mcgregor". Great job Steve Cahill. A lot of vendors set up but...
Trailer hooked up and ready to go. I have a few things I am bringing with me if there is any interest. I have 2 dog bones, torque rods, for the M939 series 5 ton that are still in their boxes that I may part with and also a military issue flack vest in size large. Dog bones run around $250. Not...
Hey Piper, when I first got my truck voltage reading was showing low. In the TM there is a good instruction on adjusting the voltage. All that is needed is an Allen wrench to remove the plug and a small flat head screwdriver to turn the screw inside. Use a good volt meter to make sure you set it...
Mos68, sorry it took so long to reply but the digital meter is a volt gauge as I wanted a more accurate reading of what the system is doing. Works great. Found it on amazon for less than $10.
The $5000 HMMWV's also have an "Off road use only" restriction. So be sure to check with the Illinois DMV to see if you can even register it for the road. Also welcome to the site from Cape Cod, MA. Used to live in Pekin.
Hey Wes, I wish they were a little lower but it was installed as per the military installation instructions and not a real easy way to modify or easily remove them. I just need to keep an eye on low tree branches.
I installed a factory convoy light set on my M923. Now she is ready for the Weare, NH convoy. They look and work good. They are a little tall and they are in the stowed position! They could go up another foot or two. I know I would hit every tree branch if I put them up. I had to remove the...
Hey General, Elidaclan and his HEMTT and me with my M923 are still planning on coming up on Friday. Final plans to be completed as to timing soon. I now have operating convoy lights on my truck so that should help and they look pretty cool.
Hey Ahab, I think I bought the clips at Wally World most likely in the household goods/hardware dept. There is a coating on them but painted up ok so not sure it is anything but paint.
Hey Phil, I was at the Weare rally last year. Drove my M923 up from Cape Cod with the convoy of big trucks on Friday. Plan on being there again this year. Hope to see you there.
Went to a parade with a few other guys today and during the parade the electronic light switch decided to short out, lights flashing and nothing working right. Lucky I was near the end of the route and pulled over and killed the power and disconnected the plug from the back of the switch. It was...
Hey BenRoberts, I started a thread titled 2017 4th of July parade photos. I didn't see your post and no one else has added to my post yet so maybe the mods can merge the two. Here are a few pictures from the parade I went to with Elidaclan and his HEMTT and Vintage Iron with his M916. Great time...
