I just bought a complete set of convoy lights from Fleabay for $150 and is correct for my M923 and I think also for the deuce and a half. Shipping was $60 so for just over $200 I'll have a great set up. I really like the rotating lights instead of the flashers. Now to get the time to install...
Welcome Kiwi from Cape Cod, MA USA. Always thought New Zealand would be a great place to visit. Nice truck. I think the box is an antennae mount as some transmit at some pretty high voltage. I sure others here will know and chime in.
Hey Mos68x, I had the exact same thing happen to my fuel float. Had a small crack in it. I happened to have a couple of wine corks laying around and a lot of the old cars I have had used cork floats. So I just zip tied one of them to the gauge ring and it works pretty good. I have been told that...
Welcome aboard from Cape Cod. Hope you plan on attending the military truck show in Weare, NH at the end of July. Lots of trucks and a great time. Show us your stuff!
I have done a few things lately. Picked up a set of desplined front hubs that were missing the center caps. Real hard time finding the correct caps so I opted for another fix. Found some Dorman freeze plugs. They were not the dish type like the original ones. They are domed with no lip. A little...
Yes leaving the bad/defective wire in place and adding the new one is very common in the marine industry. It is called "abandon in place". Usually much quicker than pulling old cable and time is money.
Hey Moose, welcome from Cape Cod, MA, nice looking rig. If you had the trailer that would be a serious road train! Good luck on the build. Keep us updated. We like pictures.
Tim, welcome from Cape Cod, MA and congratulations on the new truck. I really enjoy mine. Kinda wish I had the M925. I have seen air under my M923 when I had to put the engine in it!
Chris, that's a lot of miles in a 5 ton in only 4 days! Good luck and God speed. Take some photos along the way and let us experience the trip if you can.
Hey Big Sarge, thanks for the info on the open house. I have a 1984 M923 5 ton truck and was wondering if you know do they need any more vehicles for the show? I know several guys locally that have various types of vehicles and may be able to attend.
Looking for a cargo cover for a M105a2 that isn't too crazy priced. Also some zipper boots for the front axle on my M923. The ones I installed less than 2 years ago are already shot. Will be there Saturday all day.
Thanks CsmDavis. I am sure you are right. It probably would fit in there if I already didn't have it full of other stuff! I like to always be prepared or over packed, which ever you prefer to call it.
Needed a dry secure place to store my geared lug wrench and the handle, which doesn't fit in my side tool boxes. Couldn't find anything reasonable that was long enough. Saw these on Sportsmans Guide for less than $25. They are heavy duty and will be pretty much waterproof. I am mounting on top...
Welcome Hobbyman from Cape Cod, MA. Looks like you are doing a great job rebuilding her. She looks like she'll be on the road soon. Saw your location and know it pretty well. Stationed in Houma from 95-98 with the USCG. Great food but too hot for me. Good luck on the truck
Welcome Theshaman from Cape Cod, MA. Good luck on your truck search. Read up on the Tech manuals (TM's) on here ahead of time and you will be miles ahead of the required maintenance needed on these trucks. Take your time and the right truck will show up at just the right time, just like mine did!
Welcome from about as far east of you as I can go in the state, Cape Cod. Good luck on the new truck. There are a couple of shows coming up, one soon in Sussex, NJ and one later in the summer in NH. Make plans to attend if you can. Great place to see lots of stuff and meet fellow MV people.
