I have sold the axles from the old M342 I am parting out to a buddy of mine who is building up a BIG offroad rig. He's got BIG power for it, and will be running the 16-20 michelin's on it.
I've browsed throught the tm's but couldn't find axle and transfercase ratios. I think all the Rockwell...
This is owned by a customer of the shop that is working on my hemtt. He asked me to try to find out what he could get out of it.
It is not running, but he is willing to get it running (I guess it just needs the basics to get up and running again) if its worth anything.
I told him not to get...
Well, after putting about 200 miles on the hemtt with the old slipping HT740D Allison tranny, I decided it was finally time to get my ass in gear and get the new transmission I got from Bruce Kubu put in.
It took a while to find someone I trusted completely to do the work, but the guy I found...
Hey guys - I had such great luck finding a crane controller through you all, maybe you can help me find a good source (re:cheaper then what Grove wants for them - $170 each!) for these holding valves...
Is there a place that parts out cranes?
Check out my classified listing for...
I am searching on my Grove MHC977 telescoping crane for the dataplate with serial# and haven't been able to find it. Anyone out there have any idea where it may be hidden?
Also - I have a wanted-ad posted in the classifieds for anyone that might have some idea where to find the wired-remote...
It's still a LONGGGG way off from completion, but I've finally got it together enough to feel good about posting some pics here for you guys to see what I've been spending all my money on the last couple months.
I just got the repaired skidplate and skidplate frame back from the powdercoaters...
A buddy of mine got a hold of a good condition set of Warn locking hubs for a Deuce. He says they are marked M213 - I don't know if that's a Warn p/n or something else - buy he said they fit the M35.
I told him I would help him find out how much they are worth and possibly post up a classified...
Has anyone ever heard of a product that can be sprayed on over MINOR surface rust prior to paint or primer that will neutralize the rust and prevent it from growing under the paint?
I think I have seen some product like this - but I can't remember what it was called. Seems like it sprayed on...
I am getting ready to shoot some Gillespie tan on a buddy's Toyota truck, and I am using it as a learnig opportunity before I start spraying my HEMTT.
We are going to use the Gillespie current issue tan with Gillespie Redox primer first, and I am going to try it with a synthetic enamel...
I have noticed that the PLS HEMTT has a much different grill design then the regular M977 M985 more common design. Can anyone tell me why that is?
It seems like either the PLS grill wouldn't let in very much airflow, or the normal HEMTT grill might be overkill for airflow needs. I don't...
This is a picture of the type of window crank shaft I have on my HEMTT.
I'lm having a heck of a time finding window cranks that will fit this style of shaft. Most seem to be the star/spline style shaft.
I was at my local Peterbilt dealer today and saw a window crank on the counter that had...
I was dropping a bunch of HEMTT parts off at the powdercoater to be coated in black powder, and I happened to ask the owner if they had any powder that acted as a good base primer for painting over with Gillespie OD and he said he did.
He also said it was a good rust preventative. I don't...
I'm pretty sure I want to stay away from the camo for right now. What color do you all think I should go with for the HEMTT project? I'm kinda torn between the ol' tried and true 383 CARC substitute, and the current 34086 Lusterless Olive Drab (both are Gillespie from Rapco).
Does anyone...
I am thinking that I will go ahead and sandblast the inside and out of the cab on my M977, but before I go scrape out the foam/perforated vinyl insulation lining the interior I want to make sure I have a good source for more of it.
It's approx 1/2" thick foam with a perforated black grained...
I discovered this yesterday while messing with the light switch and scared the bejesus out of myself! When I switch the main headlight switch all the way on - the engine starts! Whether the key is switched on or not. I'm thinking someone accidentally got a wire crossed when they wired in the...

Everybody cross your fingers!!! I really hate to see it go, but I hope the next guy that gets it enjoyed it as much as I did.
Thanks for all the great compliments I've gotten from you guys about it. I hope you like...
If anyone's interested I've listed my 5-ton on the classifieds here. Check it out.
I drove the new HEMTT yesterday - all I can say is WOW!!! These things have SOOOOO much more power! It drove great. Tracked straight, accellerated very smoothly, and the tranny shifted quick and...
I need to find TM 9-2320-279-20... maintenance and parts manuals. I have downloaded the operator's manuals from the tech. manual section, but the others aren't there yet.
Anyone know where they can be found in paper or PDF?
Anyone want to take a shot at guessing which color OD this is? I am gonna want to paint the HEMTT, but I really would rather have a solid OD color, and forgo the camo patterns.
This looks a bit darker then the 383 on my 5-ton.
So now that I've bought a HEMTT, I'm gonna have to insure it. I've been insuring my 5-ton through State Farm for pretty cheap as a collector rig, but I doubt that's gonna fly this time. Guess since I've stepped in size I'm gonna be stepping up big-time in insurance premiums.
I wish I could...
