I personally have been looking for an "extra small" roof rack to go JUST over the cab (with possible hangover to the fiberglass shell and/or windshield) It would be small but would be a little extra storage and a place to mount some lights...still searching.
Mine does the same as well. I just carried around a 5 gal can of fuel and let it go down to "E". It's as accurate as I could expect from a 25 year old truck! All that matters to me anyway is that "E" really means EMPTY!
Well I am no expert nor have I spent YEARS experimenting with my M1009 but I DO use a quart of 2 cycle every fill up and am of the understanding that 2 cycle oil was MEANT to burn with fuel and regular motor oil is not. I agree with tenn on the used oil and regardless of what everyone's personal...
I'm with Linx...who needs a radio/cd player...a little amp like this, some speakers and an MP3 player and you are ROCK AND ROLL!! It's a great idea...I'm gonna jump on this band wagon too!
I know I am not the only MV in South Florida. But I haven't seen any rolling around Miami. Yesterday, while on my motorcycle, I saw another M1009 on miami's famous 8th Street (Tamiami Trail). It was 13:50 and we were between 157th Ave and the Miccosukee Hotel & Casino. Was it anybody here? THANKS!
Keep the snorkel...I want the ROOF RACK! How did you mount it? Does it leak? How much weight can it support on the fiberglass? Truck looks really nice BTW...good job.
****, except for the missing dash (which is easy to find on Ebay...usually - PM me if you need one) your truck is in much nicer shape than mine! Upside for me was that I was lucky enough to stumble into a mechanically perfect truck! Picked it up in N.C. and drove it 750 miles to Miami with ZERO...
This is an alternator interface module for diesel engines from Dakota Digital
Universal Diesel Alternator Tachometer Interface
That's all you need (plus a tach of course) to put any tach you want in your truck. I have seen it installed, functional and accurate in an M1008 CUCV using a stock GM...

Sure could use a higher resolution scan...
My 1009 did not come from GL with a brushguard. I like the look of one and was looking at buying. I was wondering, though, what they weigh and if they were heavy (maybe 100+ lbs) the weight SAVING may be the way to go. THANKS!
For the sake of being thorough I'll make a request with pics...Looking for the part identified as #5 (and ONE actual tow hook clevis) I have all the other parts. THANKS!
PMs sent guys...thanks alot. I have ONE (front) hook/clevis or "D" ring. I have the square stock that are the hangars too. What I need are the left and right brackets that hold them to the frame of the truck. Oh yeah...one more hook would make it complete! puppy - would you be willing to part...
