For Nam, use 24087 semi-gloss. Make sure it is the old FS 24087 as the new FS 24087 is noticably lighter, yellow-brown compared to the FS that was in effect in the sixties and seventies. For a close match using the modern FS, use 24084. I used Randolph 24087 on mine and it looks right to me...
Stick with the gear lube. GL-4 is the best, NAPA carries CRC 85-90 in the GL-4. Gear lube contains additives for pressure that you won't find in motor oil.
You'd assume wrong. My boards are 3/4" thick. At the rear bracket they go across the opening and end flush with the rear-most part of the bracket, ie, if you ran the boards long and cut them using the outside of the metal as a guide. The front end brackets are different, the wood goes just...
I'll see if I can get some pics when I get home. I have my troop seats out of the truck in the basement. The wood is still attached so should be what you are looking for.
I'm sure that's true, Bill, and something that I'll have to find out for my own self. That's what this year will be about. This is my first MV and first non-daily driver. It's old and I know it needs some work but just what and how much I'm still finding out. After a few more repairs and new...
Thanks, I assure you it is the same truck! Come to the COMVEC show and I'll give you a ride, you won't believe how much smoother and quieter it is (well, as quiet as a M37 can be. We all know I'm not sneaking up on anyone in a M37 )
Okay, as for the box material, it's 1/2" MDO faced and pre-primed both sides. The facing is resin, so no wood grain gets thru and the factory primer has a slight texture that looks like rolled steel. Handles and cuts like plywood, but the sheets are made for outdoor signs and when the edges...
At Ease! At Ease! As of now, I don't have any way to affordably transport the M37 out of state (or more than about a 50 mile radius from home) so it's staying close to home for the time being. If things in my life change for the better (ie a full time job, etc) I could see having the means to...
Some of those were primer but at least 48 were color. I used Randolf 24087 as sold by Peter DeBella Jeep Parts. The Randolph 24087 is the old FS number and according to Randolph that same color formula is also listed as 24084 which is the modern closest reference to the 24087 used in Vietnam...
Ha ha! Didn't use either! Only about 200lbs of added weight. I'm actually shocked you didn't notice that the back end is still sitting high!! Better get those eyes checked my boy before Charlie sneaks up on you!
Didn't take any inside pics yet as the only thing in there is the crate I built...
Yeah, I know. I just can't decide which pic I want to use. I'll have to change it again when I get the side window armor done and more pics. My life is soooo complicated!!! :cookoo:
For those who don't get to the guntruck forum, there is an update on my M37: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/gun-trucks/85669-introducing-boonierat.html
Photos are in that thread!
