I probably wouldnt have bobbed mine if I didnt need a class B license to drive one in California. There are some pro's to shortening one, 2 less pinion seals/wheel seals to leak, 2 less wheel cylinders to go bad, one less brake line to break, 1/3 less work involved in a brake job, 12 less torque...
Yes a Fontana trip is in order!I need lots of stuff. Muffler is in the plans, I dont think the neighbors were happy at 0645 this morning when I decided to drive the duece to work. On a side note I just won an M101A1 from Sierra Herlong today for a mere $125. Too bad its 400 miles away, gonna be...
Finally got to really drive it today, brakes are all dialed in and working perfect. Loaded up all the scrap steel left over from the bob job and drove down to "the valley". I only had 1600lbs but got $200 for it  I kept the axle shafts, differential and hubs/bearings from the old axle so...
RE: Duece left today for,it
Bummer, Your asking price was a good deal especially with all the work involved with the bob job. I sure am lucky my neighbors dont mind my truck. I predict you'll have another within a years time. I've tried to kick the duece habbit twice and always end up with another.
I have seen that truck in person and it is SUPER NICE! Dont know what you paid but judging by its condition I'm sure it was a pretty penny. Why dont you fly out to ontario airport and drive it home. The truck is in tip top shape from what I saw. $200 plane ticket, $1500 diesel fuel, $150 worth...
I'm gonna throw a guestimate out there and say 250 per tire, 1000 for the axle and 2500 for the bed for a total of 4500lbs, that might be on the light side.

Hey Bjorn did you ever get to see how much boost that 757 puts out and at what egt's? Is that blow by entry port factory or did you add that? I would really like to do something like that to keep the fumes in the cab at a minimum.
I had a civvy K30 that I blew the 6.2 on. I dropped a 454 in without changing anything, it was fairly straight forward. Had to make up some radiator hose adapters for the diesel radiator. Put a shift kit in the turbo 400 and ran it. If I were to do it again, I would have kept it a diesel. I...
Parts list is pretty short. Front duece springs, hangers and the u bolts. I had to replace the steel brake line because it was so rusty and the rubber line going to the axle since it was cracked up pretty good. You'll need tall jack stands. No specialty tools needed but they will make it easier...
Took the day off work today and got a solid 6 hours of work done before my stupidity got me injured. Got the 2 front wheel cylinders rebuilt and the bed cut down and set back on the frame. I was under the back of the truck hooking up the lights and checking where I needed to trim the bed when I...
Thanks for taking care of me on the parts Offroadfabworks! Im down in San Diego right now with family and will hopefully be back early tomorrow to finish up the truck.
RE: Re: RE: Welding Frames
OK, Slow progress but it drives again! I have no brakes because the steel line line to the rear was real rusty and develpoed a pinhole leak before I decided to cut it. I started to cut the rest of the bed down tonight but it was too loud so it will have to wait till...
Your out of control Kevin!! Look like nice trucks, congrats. I purposely dont look at GL anymore because the temptation to click on the bid button, its so hard to fight.
RE: Welding Frames
I have decided to just bolt them on. I had a needed break from the truck and borrowed some reamers from Will Wagner and can hopefully get some work done tonight if mama says its ok, being "her day" and all.
I plan on running singles as soon as money permits, I saw a nice set of 5 at the brothers yard a while back. Gonna head to San Diego this weekend so more delays. Anybody have thoughts or comments about welding the spring perches to the frame versus bolting them on? I am really tired of drilling...
I used a 4 " grinder with a 4 1/2" cutting disk, it works great, a plasma cutter would be ideal. To get a straight line I used a magnetic laser thing I have and traced the line with chalk in the dark. I'm still 2 U bolts short so I could only get one side of the springs mocked up tonight...
