Yes DH i did search, found a good thread about the M1959 field stoves that was very useful. Did not find any info pertaining to going prices, thanks in advance.
Neophyte, cheapest is AV plates, (but you could not hall anything, car shows and such only), You could run a "H" weight plate, not cheap, best bet would be farm tags.
I can under stand the cost savings on a truck, howver I don't see it on trailers. 8,000 lb plate is only 58.00 per year that you would use on a M105 trailer. If running a semi trailer it is about 98.00 for a non exp semi trailer plate, so why whould I want to pay 75.00 every year?
Have you pulled the GP control board to look for any burn marks? It could have died. Might want to run a manual switch for the GP control, it is well covered in the cucv section with a search or maybe in the stickys.
Yes to a mulitimeter, you want to put one lead on the threads of the glow plug and the other lead on the tip/spade of the plug (with the wire removed from the GP)
You said that you checked you GP's with a test light, that is only going to tell you that you have power to the plugs. Ohm each plug with a DMM, a good plug will be 1 to 3 ohms, above or below that number and you have a bad plug. If one plug goes bad the others will follow as they are drawing...
Not having a stack doesn't mean a whole lot, mine is a ld465 with a grass burner exhaust, but is a non turbo truck. Even with a rebulit in 1988 at toole they didn't upgrade. Alot of m35's in the first half of Nam were grass burners.
I had my gauge stop working while running my mep002 out in the woods this past weekend. Got out the dmm and checked my batterys and they were right at 27 volts while running. At which time a said a thank you prayer.
I'm on the same page as WB1895, I never could see spending the extra money to put a turbo on mine. Try driving yours for a while, then make the choice.
