Here's a couple of pics of my winch. My buddy Joe and his guys modified the front brush guard slightly and we ended up getting a 12,000 pound Mile Marker hydraulic HMMWV winch to work perfectly on my M1031.
I ended up getting stung for $80 and mainly just walked around and chatted with folks off and on for three days. I didn't camp. Kinda steep. I enjoyed meeting you guys though...
OK guys, I have beat myself to death trying to figure out my options and I keep coming back to the manual trans. What I would like to know is if anyone has done the NV4500 swap using an NP205 transfer case that has been TWIN STICKED?? It looks like my two sticks will not interfere with the...
So I just replaced my very defunct speedometer with a working one with about the same mileage. The speedometer is now intermittent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Can anyone offer up any potential causes for this? What have I missed?
My M1031 has a limited slip... In the third or fourth character of the VIN a "D" usually indicates LSD if I recall correctly... Someone correct me if I am wrong. I may be...
This is my 1986 M1031 which has been converted to an M1028A1 (I guess...), I installed a six inch lift from ORD, twin sticked the NP205, swapped to DRW front hubs and installed machined hub/lug centric steel 2 inch spacers on the rear of the truck. We installed a Mile Marker 12,000 pound...
Just wondering if any of the tunnel gensets made by Panda Defense (German) have made it out of the supply chain yet? If you have any experience with them, please let me know. I am contemplating buying one... Pics for reference.
Just upgraded to a 130 foot Dyneema SK75 synthetic winch line. I changed the roller fairlead to a billet Factor 55 hawse type fairlead.
Installed a 24" LED work light above the winch. Switched over to LED headlights in clear H4 housings as mentioned in the previous post, installed new tail...
Lots of other upgrades have taken place as a result of driving it everyday and figuring out what needs to be done. Lots of thanks to Sharecropper for sharing his wisdom and ideas. One idea in particular was the Centromatic Dynamic balancers. I could not see a massive difference until I had my...
My latest upgrade was clear H4 headlight housings with LED's. This was the best $100 spent so far on the truck! Beautiful bright nighttime lights that clearly illuminate signs, etc. that do not annoy folks. Not one person has flashed me with them on low. The high beams are flamethrowers!
I hope to be where you are one day. I can state with relative certainty though that rebuilding one of these trucks causes one to hemorrhage cash. Oh how I would love to have a 5.9 Cummins in my truck, and, and, and... When will it ever stop?
Just wanted to update this thread for future reference. The SRW rotors do have larger holes to accommodate the knurled section of the wheel studs. I was able to use them on my DRW hubs as the rotors are hub centric and the eight bolts on the DRW hub held them in place perfectly. I am driving and...
So, it's been awhile since I posted... I have had my m1031 (now an m1028a1) on the road for a few weeks now. Right away, I decided to make the investment in DRW front hubs and lose the 3" spacers. I did not feel safe running them on the front axle. In addition I decided to scale back to quality...
And this awesome truck us for sale again. Just noticed it on Atlanta CL... It would make someone a nice one. Wish he were parting it out... I need a lot of those parts for mine.
