GA members going to Richloam Rally?

Normally I wouldn't care either but since I would have to tow it with a commercial semi truck I can't blow past the scales like someone would with a military 6x6. Plus I don't have time to help before the Richloam rally either and the weekend after Richloam I'm booked getting my new toy out of...

GA members going to Richloam Rally?

Does it have a license plate so it can be towed or does it need to be trailered? If it can be towed if someone can bring it down to the Florida side of the FL/GA border (save me from having to spend money on IRP and IFTA permits for GA) I should be able to come up and get it to haul it the rest...

Does Gl charge before the EUC comes back?

You can probably thank the people that didn't have the funds to pay for the item after the EUC cleared. So they may have gotten tired of doing EUC's for nothing. If that is why they changed the rules I don't blame them. But that's just my 2cents. :) Ruppster

GA members going to Richloam Rally?

That may have been me. I have a truck to pick up in the Macon area. I will be going up empty but will be loaded coming back down. Where in GA is the trailer now? Ruppster

    12v-71 detroit diesel

I love the sound of a Detroit 2 stroke. I have a Dodge with a DD 8V71 in it. Thinking about switching it out to a 6V92T though. How about a 5 ton M923/925 type truck that has the one piece tilt hood? If the hood isn't long enough to fit the DD then use it as a pattern to make a custom...

I plan on heading out of Tampa Saturday morning (I'm only staying for the day). If you don't mind a ride in a semi truck the copilot seat is yours. Ruppster

What, you're not going to bring that Dodge you picked up? Or are you still waiting to put a 4wd drivetrain under it? :) Ruppster

    **Florida Richloam MV Rally**

I plan on bringing the closest thing I have to a 6x6, my 6x4 semi truck. :) Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm only using it to get to the gettogether. I don't plan on taking it on the trails. :) Ruppster

    New jarhead from Edwards AFB

Welcome aboard. Just watch out since once that 6x6 bug bites the next thing you know you're bidding on 5 ton trucks all over the U.S. and before you realize it you have several of them and the housing office is knocking down your door. :) I think that's why my Air Force wife won't let me buy a...

Empty trailer - Tampa, FL to Macon, GA on Feb 12th

Yes, I could do that. Should be heading back down that way in the evening of the 12th. If you have a pallet that they could be set on that would be great. That would make it easier to strap to the deck of the trailer. So if anyone buys one of your towbars and needs it brought down to the Tampa...

Empty trailer - Tampa, FL to Macon, GA on Feb 12th

Looks like I will be making a trip to Macon, GA, on the 12th of February to get a new toy. I will be going up I-75 all the way from Tampa, FL. My drop deck trailer will be empty on the trip up. If anyone needs something hauled up from Florida to any place along the route let me know. Ruppster

Okay, here's the link to the CDL issue. Official Website Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles It came from PaulFarber on page 3 of the following thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/5-ton-up/49519-florida-cdl-your-5-ton-you.html So I researched what statute it...

Florida MV Insurance and RV Status

For the cargo box versus fifth wheel CDL issue that is right from Florida's DMV web site. Also listed in Florida's trucking handbook about CDL requirements. I will have to get back with a link to that. For the RV combo issue that is standard for a truck with an RV trailer to be classed as an...

Florida MV Insurance and RV Status

Florida is weird when it comes to what does/does not need a CDL. A cargo truck, regardless of GVWR, that carries cargo directly on its chassis does not need a CDL if not for hire/profit. But a semi tractor that is built for the sole purpose of pulling a trailer requires at least a Class B CDL...

Florida MV Insurance and RV Status

In the case of a shop van it is easily converted to an RV and Florida will accept it. The key issue the OP is having is he wants to have something like a toterhome but Florida will not accept that as a "motor home" RV like the would a converted shop truck. As far as using the RV exemption from...

While yes, you will have to pull in to the scales they may stop you every now and then to ask. A lot of scales in Florida are the weigh in motion type and even when I had out of state tags 9 times out of 10 I got the green arrow to return to the highway. When I got the red arrow to stop it was...

Florida MV Insurance and RV Status

Two things. One, just because you may have truck registration it does not mean a log book is mandatory. A log book and USDOT number are only required if you are for hire. Two, the NM idea would not do you any good since Florida would not honor it as an RV anyhow. So you would be wasting your...
