Hello, so I finally got around to playing with my new to me MEP-002. I got two fresh new batteries, pulled the fuel tank to get re-lined. Then I cleaned the fuel strainer and replaced the two fuel filters. I also put in new rotella 15-40 with a new oil filter. I used a bucket of clean diesel...
You'll probably be glad you did change them when you see what the old ones look like. I didn't even have a primary filter in mine. Opened it up and it was empty!
Cool, that's the info I was looking for, I am going to take a look at where I can get a seal and also check the condition of the rim of the tank.
I have seen new Caps out there for about $12, if I can't get it to seal I may just get a new one.
I thought I would find an answer on this by searching but didn't find anything. Is it normal for some fuel to leak out around the fuel tank cap while driving? I have seen it on other deuces but it happens on mine every time I take her out. I tried adjusting the gasket and spring in the cap...
When I did the rebuild I used mainly Air tool Oil for lubrication and a some Dot 3 only because that's what was in the Deuce when I got it. I don't want to get into a Dot 3 vs. 5 discussion here there are plenty of threads on that but I plan on bleeding my brakes at least yearly and with Dot 3...
I just happen to find the MEP-002 batteries at Costco. I plan on getting two tonight and I heard the Kirkland Batteries are really good. Not a bad deal at $69.95 with 500 CCA..
I suppose it all depends on what you plan on doing with it. I would pay more for one with a trailer depending on the trailer condition as well. In my area if you have a "stationary" generator next to your house you need a permit, if it's on wheels then you don't. Also my generator came on a...
I just got my 002 for around $860 at Ft Mead on the Trailer that has brand new NDT's on it.. It was a no loose option in my opinion.. I would pay up to $1000 for one on a good trailer but one by itself around $500-600.
It seems the prices are a little better when they sell a whole bunch at...
I never dealt with them either but decided to bid and won my first MEP-002, but it needs a little work as they all do. Depends on your Skill level and your wallet.
Some guys here sell them, check out the classifieds.:D
Good time to do the brake light switch upgrade, Here is a thread I posted when I broke mine off.. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/87241-brake-light-switch-upgrade-question.html It's a good thing to do safety wise. I just happen to snap mine off as well and glad I did the upgrade.. Let me...
Thanks for the info.. Rare usually means pricey.. still would love it though. Great looking vehicle and I am sure you are sorry to see her go.. Thanks for sharing the info..:D
Greg, I just got the plate and it looks Awesome!!! Your customization of the standard plate to a Bobbed Deuce plate XM381 was great. He was also able to make it the way I wanted vs. the template that I gave him, He can alter the weights and such if needed. The size matched the holes that...
I would drill it out, tap it and plug it. Then do the brake switch upgrade so that the switch is on the Air side and not the Hydraulic end. This is much safer and was a published upgrade that was suggested for safety reasons.. It's a relatively cheap upgrade and will give you a little extra...
Wow you just made someone very very happy. What is it called and how can I get one? That now just joined my list of toys to get, perhaps at the top. Please give us some more info..
Thanks!
I am sure that's how you got it, didn't mean to insinuate that it was because you didn't drain the tanks regularly. There was a lot of weird stuff like that with my truck when I first got it. I drained almost a quart of water out of the fuel filters and the primary filter wasn't even in there...
Very nice job and cool video too! I like that time elapsed pics, was that from a shop video cam?
Excellent and now she'll be good for another 40 years..
